I walked into my bedroom and fell on my bed and taking a big sigh.
"I'm engaged to be married to my best friend. Oh there is so much to be done. The dress, the venue, the food, the guests, an-"
Mary came in with a curious look on her face. "Adelaide? Are you quite alright?"
"Mary! My dearest Mary." I got up and hugged her. "Edward proposed."
"Oh my God, Adelaide!" She gave me such a tight hug I felt as if my bones were about to crack. "That is wonderful news! How happy I am for you both. What are you going to do about your father? What if he is dead set on having you marry.. what was his name again?"
I rolled my eyes. "William. I don't even know what kingdom he's from, nor do I care. I love Edward, my father will just have to see that. We shall talk more about all that at the end of the ball, for now, I should probably get dressed."
With that, Mary pulled out the grandest blue dress I have ever seen.
"Nothing has ever looked better on you than this dress. You look like a queen."
I smiled at my friend and kissed her cheek. "You are my greatest friend, I don't know what I would do without you."
"You are a darling, Adelaide. Now hurry, I'm sure the ball is about to start. We wouldn't want you to be late."
I chuckled, "Of course, thank you, for everything." And then I was off. Time to face the music.
