We arrived in Peluigon three days after we first set off. William and I did not speak for most of the journey. I tried to make conversation, but he always replied with one or two words. I assumed he was just tired from all the events we had to endure the past week, so I let it go.
As we got to the gates of the kingdom, I fell in love with the architecture of my future home.
"William! You never told me Peluigon was so beautiful!" I giggled waiting for a response but nothing came out of his mouth. "William?"
He snapped at me by saying, "What!"
I've never seen him look so angry and speak in such a way, especially to me.
"I'm sorry, Adelaide." He took my hand and smiled. "I'm just tired."
I nodded, still hurt at the way he spoke to me in such a tone, but I didn't want to complain.
We got to the front of the palace, William opened his door and held out his hand so he could help me down.
"Welcome home."
And for the first time in my life, I felt like an outsider.
