It has been two months since the night of my coronation and William and I haven't spoke a word to one another since then. We have avoided balls and feasts as much as we can.
Truth be told, I could not care less. My only priority is to make sure my child is going to be alright.
I have been taking afternoon walks so I can be alone for even a few moments in the day. Today, I decided to bring a book and read while I wait for Ferren and John to bring lunch for us all.
I began to get sharp pains in my stomach as soon as I sat down. I let out a cry of pain as I lifted my dress to find a trail of blood going down my leg.
"FERREN, JOHN! COME QUICK, PLEASE."
John carried me to the physicians corridors and ran to tell William what had just happened as Ferren aided the physician in any way he needed.
I kept repeating, "My baby, my baby."
The physician told me to sleep, that I was tired and I needed rest, so I did.
When I awoke, Ferren came into the physicians room with a bucket of water and a towel. "Adelaide! Oh thank you God, I shall never sin again." She kissed my forehead and smiled at me.
I slowly started to position myself so I could sit and talk to her, but I couldn't. "Ferren, what is this?"
She sighed. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." Her eyes began to fill with tears and then I knew. My child was gone.
