Chapter 6. I'm Sorry

I knew the next conversation I was going to be having was going to be a hard one.

"Tobias. You said sorry for not being able to keep your promise. What promise?"

I took a deep breath, "Cayden didn't want me to tell you."

I could feel his anger, "Tell me what?"

I took a deep breath again and turned around to looked out the door at my mate, "Cayden's been being bullied. I don't know how long for but he didn't want me to tell you. I told Kevin but sworn him to secrecy because of how jumpy Cayden was."

I felt the room get colder, but I wouldn't look up. I probably would be kicked out of the pack for allowing pain to come to his son. I didn't need to make him more mad.

"I understand if I'm kicked out for letting harm come to my mate. He's the alpha's son and I am his mate. I take full responsibility for my actions. My mistakes for not protecting him and for not telling you. I deserve what ever punishment you feel I deserve."

I heard him step forward and was expecting to get slapped but I wasn't. I felt arms come around me and hold me there.

"You are a way better alpha at this age then I could ever be. I let my mate get hurt in a way no one can imagine. Then I left and got another person pregnant. I should have done what you did. Owned up to the fact it was my fault for not being home. For not taking care of him. Instead I got mad. Said things I didn't mean, things that should never be directed towards your mate."

I finally looked up at him and saw he was crying, "My son is lucky to have you as a mate. But if you ever hurt him. I will cut your cock off and then make you swallow it."

"I will take that warning to heart sir."

He laughed, "As alpha. I am now appointing you as Cayden. The prince of the pack's official guard. You are not to leave his side. You will protect him with everything you have and not let anyone come between you. Am I understood Tobias?"

I nodded and bowed, "Yes sir. I would he honored."

"Now I do believe we both have jobs to do. You have to go take care of your mate and I have to go and pick an online school for my son."

We made our way out and were bombarded by Kevin.

"Walter I swear to god if you fucking exhaled him I will kill you."

I soon heard my mate's voice, "WHAT! DAD PLEASE DON'T MAKE TOBAIS LEAVE! I NEED HIM!"

Walter sighed, "Kevin. Come with me. We need to talk."

Kevin glared at him but fallowed him.

I all but ran to Cayden and picked him up. I quickly fixed the couch and then laid down so we could cuddle.

I could sense his worry and looked up seeing a few tears leave his eyes.

"Is he really making you leave?"

His voice was quite and shaky.

I sighed and pulled him closer scenting him, "No. I've been given a new job though. I am to protect you no matter what. No matter who from."

He smiled and curled closer to me.

"I was so scared."

I shushed him and held him tighter, "I'll never leave you. It's my job as your mate and an alpha to protect you and to always stand by you. No matter what."

"Your dad is going to set it up so you can go online. And you will no longer be leaving the house alone."

He nodded, "I understand."

I sighed and grabbed his chin making him look at me.

"Your not in trouble. We all just worry about you."

He nodded, "I know. I just don't like being scolded."

I laughed, "Trust me I thought I was going to piss myself when I was talking with your dad."

He laughed, "Really?"

I nodded, "He scared me."

"So when d you think dad will have me start?"

I shrugged, "I think he's waiting at least a week. There are some things we need to take care of."

I met Walter's eyes from across the room and we nodded at each other.

"What kind of things Tobias?"

"Don't worry about it. Your dad and I will take care of it."

He nodded but I could tell he was still unsure.

I carefully lifted us both up and carried him upstairs.

"You need a bath. Then we're going to go and cuddle."

Cayden nodded, "Please."

I quickly got us to the bathroom and set him on the counter and started his water.

"How does your leg feel?"

He shrugged, "Fine. But I feel like the water is going to hurt like a son of a bitch."

I nodded and kissed him gently, "Don't worry I'll try and protect it the best I can."

He nodded and waited for me to be done. I looked over at him and blushed.

"We are going to have to get you out of those clothes."

He nodded and blushed.

He quickly slipped off his shirt and I helped him with his pants and boxers.

After I was done with that I gently picked him up princess style and carried him over to the tub. I gently lowered myself and then placed him down so that his bad leg was out of the water and he was comfortable.

"How does that feel?"

"Good. Thank you."

I nodded and held my hand out, "May I see your hand?"

He nodded and lifted his left hand out of the water. I gently ran my fingers over the small cuts and grabbed he soft cloth and started to clean them.

After I finished with his left he gave me his right hand. I quickly washed that one before I grabbed the shampoo and started to wash his hair.

"I'm going to be okay."

I nodded and kissed him, "I'm going to make sure of it."
