My Protector

Chapter 7. Who?

I smiled down at my mate and curled tighter around him. His wounds were healing pretty good but not fast enough for me.

I wished that he didn't have to go though what he did. I wish I could haven been a better mate and protected him like I'm meant to.

We were currently lousing around on the couch since Cayden's first day online just got done. I smiled down at his tried eyes. Today was rough for him. He's shy, there's no secret about that so introducing himself to people and teachers took a lot out of him.

I pulled him closer catching his attention.

"Can we go outside?"

I nodded and smiled at him. I quickly shifted and fallowed him out the back door to the back yard. I growled once and started walking closer to Cayden.

"What's wrong?"

I growled and then made a motion at the ground.

He let out a noise of understanding, "You don't like the scent?"

I barked telling him he was correct with his guess.

I could tell that he wanted to play with my wolf form like most would a dog. So I started it off by running a little bit away from him then coming back to pull on his jeans. He laughed and got the point starting to play with me.

He gently pushed on my back when I ran by him. Then the next time I ran by he somehow managed to push my side halfway.

I decided it was time for some pay back and jumped on his chest pinning him to the ground underneath me.

I let out a playful growl and lend down so our noses where almost touching. I was stopped by an unusual growl.

I quickly whipped around and put myself in front of Cayden. I growled at the wolf and curled my lips in a warning.

They curled their own in a show of aggression. I stepped forward a little bit so I could put some distance between Cayden and I just incase this turned into a fight.

The wolf was a reddish tan color. They were also a beta, I could tell by their gum color. Is this beta wanting to die? What beta attacks an alpha and their mate?

The beta made a jump for where Cayden was standing and I blocked her by jumping in their way quickly.

I bite into their side making them howl out in pain as they fell away from my mate. I let go of their side and tried to bite for their neck but they moved making me bite their ear instead. I growled at the taste of blood. I really hated having to attack this beta but they were posing a treat for my mate.

I grabbed for their leg again and bite deeply into the flesh. They howled again and flipped around grabbing my tail. I let out a pained yelp and bit into their neck.

The wolf maned to grabbed my left front paw and gave it a yank. I let out another sound and lost my grip so I fought to get it back.

I found purchase once again at a different part of their neck and pulled on the flesh as hard as I could. They maned to get my left back leg in their mouth and tried to make me let go of them.

I let go and tried to jump over them only to be grabbed by the neck by them.

I could hear Cayden screaming in the back ground at us. I had no idea what he was saying only the thought of protecting him and making sure he was safe was in my mind.

I ducked down and somehow got the beta off of my neck then jumped on them pinning them to the ground.

That's when I heard it.

"WHAT IS GOING ON OUT HERE?"

The alpha's voice was clear and I stopped trying to nip at the beta's neck in respect for Walter.

Soon I could see Kevin sitting with Cayden rocking him back and forth trying to calm him down and protect him.

Soon Walter was by us and pushed me off of the beta and got in between us.

"Tobias. Shift."

I did as he said and quickly shifted. I quickly felt Cayden hug me cuddling as close to him as I could.

"I was so scared."

I pulled him closer, "I didn't want anything to happen to you."

"To him?"

I quickly turned seeing the beat had shifted to a female. She growled at me and I returned the favor.

"You growled at my mate. There for you deserved to get attacked."

She scoffed, "He doesn't have a mate."

"SORA!"

We all turned at another voice that reached our ears seeing a woman and a man looking shocked.

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!"

Walter growled at the male and got in-between us.

"She apparently attacked my son and his mate."

The man looked at her, "You did what?"

"He was on top of Cayden and growling. I thought he was going to force himself on him."

I eyes widened, "ME HURT HIM?! YOUR THE ONE WHO GROWLED AND THEN JUMPED AT HIM!"

She went to move closer but Walter held her back.

"YOU WHERE ON TOP OF HIM GROWLING."

I went to get up but Cayden held me down. He pulled on my arm and I looked down at him.

"I want to go inside."

I nodded and picked him up carrying him into the house. I could tell Kevin heard and told Walter because he didn't stop us.

I quickly carried him into our room and laid him down on the bed and snugged into him.

We had been laying together for a little while when Walter and Kevin came into the room.

"Is he okay?"

I nodded, "He just got scared."

"We talked to Sora. She was Cayden's original guard. We hadn't had time to inform her yet on everything that had happened with you two."

I growled, "I don't want her anywhere near this house for a little while."

Kevin opened his mouth to say something but Walter stopped him.

"Your alpha side almost lost control didn't he?"

I nodded, "I was so scared I would fail him again."

"Again?"

I nodded and looked at Walter, "He had begged me not to tell you about the bullies. But in the end I couldn't keep that promise."

Walter sighed, "We'll continue this talk later. You both need rest."

I nodded and watched as they left the room.
