Description: Strauss' replacement (Reader) turns out to be someone special from Derek's past.

Erin Strauss was never any of the teams best friend or favorite person. Rossi had grown close to her but he was about the only one. Still they all grieved her death. After she was killed and Hotch turned down the section chief position the search was on to find her replacement. That replacement, Agent Y/L//N would be starting today. Hotch was the only one who knew who was taking over at this point. The rest of the team had spent their little bit of free time before work wondering and speculating if it was going to be someone they had worked with before or someone random. Eventually the time came, Hotch walks Y/N into the round table room to meet the rest of the team. She plasters on a smile while also trying to look serious and professional while holding back her nerves. She had heard from a few people of how hated but also respected the former section chief had been. Sure she wanted to be respected, she needed that but she also wanted to be liked and to enjoy her job and the people she worked with rather than make their lives and their jobs harder. "Everyone, this is the new section chief, Y/N  Y//L/N" Hotch introduces her. She goes around the room shaking hands and meeting the team. "Y/N..." Derek says absolutely stunned. "What the... I knew there was a Derek Morgan on my team but I didn't think it was you. I didn't even know you left Chicago." Y/N said her eyes going wide before she goes in for a hug. "You two know each other?" Hotch asked as the others gave questioning looks. Derek, for once was pretty speechless. "Agent Morgan here was my first boyfriend. Shared our first kiss and everything." Y/N says with a soft smile. Derek shuffles awkwardly before going back to his seat. Derek got flashbacks to that moment, they'd shared their first kiss by a bus stop when he was 10 and she was 12. They stayed together for a few years actually, until her sophomore year of high school. It didn't end too horribly and her family moved away shortly there after. But they had tons of memories together and frankly neither one of them had thought they would ever see each other again. At the end of that work day, Derek heads down to Y/N's office, hoping to go unnoticed by any of the others. The last thing he needed was Rossi or Prentiss teasing him about trying to flirt with the new section chief, or heaven forbid Reid find out because he certainly wouldn't let him live down flirting with her on her first day. Derek knocks on the door after gathering all of the courage and charm he could must up. It was a very rare thing for Derek Morgan to be nervous around a woman. But there was always something different about her. He felt something for her the moment he met her and he was only a kid then. "Come in, Derek." Y/N spoke through the door. Derek pushes open the door with a cocked eyebrow. "How did you know it was me?" Derek asked confused. Y/N chuckles and sets her paperwork aside before looking up at him. "You never could resist the urge to get me alone." Y/N flirted. "And you never have seemed to mind, Boss." Derek shot back. Y/N gave him an amused look. "Boss? Hm I kind of like that." Y/N shrugged. Derek smirks at her comment. "Yeah? Seriously though, what are the odds we'd both end up here? I hate to sound this way but it's almost like it's...-" Derek trails off. "Meant to be." Y/N says nodding. "We could give it another go, maybe this weekend." Y/N suggested. "Or right now." Derek smiled charmingly.  Why let the moment die and wait for another time when they might be called in for a case?. Derek flicks on the small radio Y/N had brought in for her office before offering her his hand to dance. "I look a mess, Morgan. The spontaneous thing is cute but...-" Y/N starts. "You look perfect." Derek said softly. She takes his hand and they dance together. Enjoying the warmth and the feeling neither of them had felt in year.
