Reason 1
He never placed him in an abusive home
So first of all. Harry was never physically punched or cut or attacked by the Dursleys. The worst thing that happened to him was being held by the collar of his shirt. So don't go saying Dumbledore places Harry in an abusive home, he didn't. Being with his bloodline provides him protection and if he had grown up in the Wizarding world he would probably be arrogant and we would all hate him (which for some reason half of the potter heads do but that's for another chapter ) which, does anyone really want? Yea he didn't have the best life but that doesn't mean that he was hurt and bleeding on the ground abused by the Dursley's. plus if he was really in danger he would use magic or escape because he's not dumb.
Reason 2
He cares for Harry
Dumbledore cares for Harry and as McGonagall said and I quote "You meant a great deal to him". Why would Dumbledore try to get Harry killed if he cared for him. He knew Harry could win the tournament, he did. He knew Harry could solve the mystery of the stone, he did. He knew Harry would be hurt if something happened to Sirius, so he let him let out what he was feeling (only in the books) in OOTP. Now I know if gonna be like 'but he set him up to die in PS' but he kinda prepared HIM FOR THE FRICKIN ENTIRE THING! He wouldn't hurt someone who meant so much to him
Reason 3
Nobody is perfect
You can't be expecting him to just be perfect. I'm not trying to be desperate here. He cared for his students. He cared for Harry's safety and mental health. He cared. He didn't always do the right thing and I won't say he did but manipulating Harry? I think that's taking his mistakes too far. Ariana dying was a mistake. He had hardships as well. So don't say he is evil because he isn't. He is smart, and caring, and sometimes funny, and overall my favourite.
