Sara's POV

   I blinked. Did I.. hear that right? Joe and Ryoko broke up? That was rather fast. I stared at him for a few seconds before shaking myself out of my trance. "You did? I'm sorry to hear that," I said with a sniffle, wiping my nose with a paper towel.

   Joe nodded. His happy mood seemed to still be there, but it was toned down. "Yeah, we did. But I'm not too bummed. I never really thought of Ryoko as a girlfriend anyways. I thought of her as a best friend, but nothing more than that." Joe started to idly walk around the room as I blew my nose into the paper towel, standing over the trash can. "Oh! Get this! She broke up with me to get with this girl and they are sooo cute together!" He did one of those giddy fangirl squeals. "I'm so happy for her." 

   "I bet so," I chuckled. I turned to face him with a smile. "Thanks for cheering me up, Joe." 

   "Hey, like I said, no problem! I'm glad I could make ya happy." He opened the bathroom door for me. "Could you help me with my homework now?"

   Just as Joe said that, the bell rang, signifying that our studying period or whatever one might call it was over. He facepalmed. "Oh well, I'll get help later." Joe and I laughed at the comedic timing. We started to walk together, even though I could tell Joe wasn't really sure what his next class was.

   "We can work on our group project this period," I informed him. 

   "Oh! Awesome. When's that due again?" 

   I thought for a moment. "I think it's due on Friday, so in a week since today's Monday." 

   Joe nodded. We walked in silence for the rest of the way. Well, sort of silence. Joe kept waving and saying hi to people he knew who passed by. Honestly, it seemed like it was the first time he was coming to class without being in a huge rush to get there on time. He seemed to be enjoying it.

   I let out a quiet sigh. It wasn't a sad sigh, though. No, it was a happy, content sigh. If Joe and Ryoko had broken up and Joe had been simply heartbroken, I wouldn't be in this good of a mood. Yeah, I like Joe. But that's just cruel to be excited over someone you love getting their heart ripped out. But Joe didn't seem sad at all and even talked about how cute Ryoko and her girlfriend were. Maybe someday I could confess to Joe. Probably not. But if the time was right, maybe. 

   I shook my head to clear my thoughts as Joe and I entered our classroom. "Hey guys!" Ryoko greeted, waving us over to some seats near her. The three of us talked together, laughing and smiling. The bell eventually rung though, and we unfortunately had to keep quiet as the teacher began to talk. 

   My smile remained on my face however. Things finally seemed to be going good.
