Five Days Later, Saturday

   It had been five days since Ryoko and Joe broke up and both of them seemed to have forgotten that it had ever even happened, which is pretty good for them I guess. Oh, also, Joe was right about Ryoko and her girlfriend being good for each other. They seem to always have so much fun! 

   Currently, Joe was sitting next to me on some playground equipment near one of the local middle schools. There was a slight breeze in the air, leaving light tangles in my hair. School had ended about half an hour ago and Joe and I decided to meet here at the park to just talk. We had finally finished our group project yesterday. It was a lot of fun, but it was also stressful. All projects are stressful though so that's not much of a surprise.

   "DOG!" Joe shouted, pointing his finger. I turned to look at what he was pointing at. There was a person walking a small dog in the distance. 

   I giggled. "Aww, they're so cute."

   "Of course they are. Dogs are always cute," Joe said with a grin. We both laughed. 

   After a few seconds of silence, I spoke again, "So, what do you think we got on our project?"

   Joe thought. He put a hand to his chin and held it between his thumb and pointer finger. "Hmm, hmm. I bet we got an A+++. You and Ryoko did awesomee!" I smiled and waved my hand in a 'that's not true' gesture. 

   "No, no. You really carried the project, Joe. You did more work than any of us." We burst out laughing since we both knew very well that Joe hadn't done much. "In all seriousness, you did help us. Your jokes here and there really helped us stay in a light mood."

   He gave me a close-eyed smile. "Aw shucks," Joe said in a joke accent. 

   After laughing some more, we both fell into a comfortable silence. The silence lasted for a good two minutes before I decided to break it again. I'm not sure why I decided to say this, but I was just feeling so good after getting some nice laughs in that I wasn't thinking the same as usual. It just felt right to say it now. Besides, Joe was a pretty cool dude. I bet he'd be nice to me no matter what his answer was.

   "Hey, Joe?"

   Joe hummed in response. "Hm?"

   "Can I tell you something? And even if you say no, can we still be friends?"

   He tilted his head and gave me a look that told me to go on.

   I took a deep breath in. "I like you."

   "Aw! I like you too, Sara. I thought that was pretty obvious though since we're friends," Joe chuckled to himself.

   "No, I meant I like you as more than a friend." I sighed. "What I mean is that I love you, I think." Joe looked at me with a huge smile. He didn't say anything though. "Uh, Joe? Are you okay?"

   "That's awesome! I think I like you as more than a friend too, but I'm not sure I want to date or anything yet. We've only been friends for like, a week. I mean, I know about love at first sight and all, but I think waiting till we're both positive would be a good idea. In the mean time though, we could be best friendss?" Joe lightly hit me with his shoulder as if that would convince me to be his best friend. It did infact convince me. 

   I nodded. "Yeah, of course." He pumped his fist in the air and we yet again began laughing.

   "Awesome."

Heyy! There was no giant break in between the chapters for once. There might be the usual week-ish break in between this one and the next one though, sorry. But I think the next chapter might be the last one!
