*Virgil POV*

"Doing these exercises will improve your health and will make you better in the long run-"

God, this class couldn't go by any slower. The school day ends at 2:15. What time is it? I glanced up at the clock, leg bouncing up and down.

2:13

Fuck. I guess it could go by slower. Mr. Dela Cruz droned on and on about how we must stay fit to have a productive future.

"Are there any questions?"

I have one. Can I go home yet? This is torture. I'm too young to be subjected to whatever this is. It's the end of the day in physical education and our class is right above the gym, for god's sake. Everyone smells SO bad. Does no one at this school own deodorant?

2:14

Are you serious? I just want to go home, man. I brushed my purple bangs out of my face and started packing up. The class starts to get noisier as everyone is anxiously wanting the bell to ring.

"Sit down, class. The bell hasn't rung yet."

3...

Come on, come on, come on...

2...

So close...

1...RING!

Oh, thank GOD!

Students start to pile out of the classroom and the football players start to get rowdy. Oh, that's right. There's a game tonight. I never got the point in football. The troubled kids who got in trouble in middle school for pushing and fighting are now being praised on the field for doing the same thing. I grab my bag and walk out of the classroom and down the stairs.

The cheerleaders practice the cheer for the game tonight. "WHS! Do your very best! Remember who you're fighting for, WHS!!" I hear as I pass by the bleachers of the gym. The students of Westerberg High are very proud of their alma mater. Not me, but the others. I could care less, in two years I'll be leaving the hell hole and moving somewhere no one can find me. I might be a little dramatic, but it's the truth.

"Almost there..." I whisper as I get closer to the door of the gym. "Just a little bit longer and I'll be home." I fix my black jacket and prepare myself for the outside atmosphere.

"Hey! You!! In the black jacket!!!" A male voice screams.

That's not me, right? Who'd be calling me? I shrug the thoughts away and keep walking. I'm sure they're calling someone else. I'm a loser, no one would want to talk to me.

"No, no. Wait! The boy with the purple backpack!" The same voice calls. Fuck. That is me. No, I'm so close to going home. Please, no.

My freedom is stripped away as a firm hand is suddenly on my shoulder. I turn around to face the cause of my subjection. Oh, he's cute.

"Yes?" I say, raising an eyebrow. He lets go of my shoulder and I investigate his face. Damn, that jawline. His light brown hair frames his tanned face perfectly. Those piercing brown eyes are like chocolate and w o w.

He chuckled and I swore I fell in love at that moment. No, Virgil, stop that. The man just stopped you from going home, you should be mad! I snap out of it when he starts to speak. "Uh, are you going to the game tonight?"

I was shocked and slightly annoyed. "No, I'm not really into football." I replied.

Did he just stop me only to ask if I am going to the game tonight? I noticed he is wearing a Westerberg jersey. Ah, so he's a football player.

"Oh, that's too bad. You should go, though!" He grinned at me. This made me even more confused, so I asked why. "To watch me play." He said cockily. Then he winked and smirked and oh look, he's adorable, isn't that great?

"Oh, um, I have jury duty... tonight." I said, you know, like a liar. I mentally cringed because there is so much wrong with that sentence. One, I'm less than 18 and I can't do jury duty. Two, do they even have trials at night? And three, it's just straight up stupid.

He laughed at my excuse and I felt my face get warm. "Come on, it'll be fun. How about we make a deal?" He wiggled his eyebrows. Do people in real life even make these many expressions? I feel like he's living in a movie.

I shrugged. "What about?" I just want to go home already. This is so embarrassing.

"Go to the game. If Westerberg wins tonight, you'll go on a date with me. If they lose, I'll leave you alone. You won't have to see me ever again." He leans back a little. Obviously satisfied with his statement.

I stood there for a while, thinking. Then, after what seemed like an hour. I spoke up, regretfully, "Deal." I grumbled. Why did I say that? What if they win? What if they lose and I won't see this cute dude ever again? Once again, I'm snapped out of my thoughts by him laughing. God, that laugh will be the death of me.

"YES!! Oh, by the way, my name's Roman Prince. Number 7, quarterback." Roman said as he ran a hand through his hair. Clearly, he was happy with himself.

I felt myself start to smile. I turned around and started walking away. "I'll see you at the game." I raised my voice just for him to hear me.

Roman spoke up again, "I didn't catch your name?"

I giggled and tilted my head back. "I didn't throw it." I smirked to myself and continued out the door.

Huh, I guess I'm going to the game tonight.
