Roman's POV
"Ooh! I do, I do, I do, I dooo. Boy, you got me helplesssss! Look into your eyes and the sky's the limit."
I sang at the top of my lungs as I got ready for my date with Virgil. My parents are out of town, so I can do whatever I want!
"Romannn." Okay, maybe not all parents were out. "As much as I love your singing, can you turn down the volume? I'm watching this cute dog video on IG." I heard Patton coo downstairs.
God, Patton. Do you have to be so dad-like? WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN. I guess, I'm a children? ANYWAY. I lowkey stressed over the fact of embarrassing myself, but I feel like I did this before. He wouldn't have said yes if he didn't want to, right? I check my phone for the time. Alright, I have to pick him up at 6:45, I have plenty of time.

Virgil's POV
"Why must you be pacing? Shouldn't you be getting ready?"
My mind is racing. I don't even know why I'm so nervous. Roman's just himself. Maybe that's why I'm nervous, Roman is so perfect and could never be into me. Nah, that can't be it. Why would I NOT want to go on a date with him? He's a football player, I'm... whatever the hell I am. This is the chance of a lifetime. Ugh, now I sound bitchy. I am not using him for popularity, I'm just thinking this would never have happened due to what society has done to the high school system. I should tell Logan that.
I sighed. "That's exactly the point, Logan. I'm supposed to be getting ready! What am I even going to wear?"
He looked at me dead in the eyes. "Virgil, I am getting a distinct feeling of déjà vu at this moment."
As soon as he said that my mine went back to Friday night. Which was... eventful. To say the least. How does he remember every play I've been a tech for? That's highkey stalker energy. I dunno, he's not a stalker. Which just means he really likes me. Ugh. Feelings.
I threw on whatever clothes similar to what I was wearing the day he asked me out. But who am I kidding? All my clothes are similar anyway. He said to dress somewhat nice but casually. I threw on a plain purple button-up and black jeans. My nicest shoes were all black Vans, so I put those on too. My patchwork jacket was hanging on the doorknob, so I grabbed that and tied it around my waist.
"Virgil, what time are you supposed to be downstairs?" I heard Logan ask.
"Uh...he should be here at 6:45?" I said uncertainly while tying my shoes.
"Then you should get going because it's 6:45." He replied.
"WHAT THE FUCK." I screamed as I grabbed all my shit and head to the door. "BYE, LOGAN!" I half-screamed as I ran out the door. He gave a small wave and went back to the book he was reading.
I walked into the elevator to get downstairs to the parking lot. I looked into my pockets and found gum, a comb, and my wallet. That should last me, right? Hopefully, it does. I am actually really looking forward to this. I don't know him much yet, but he seems like a good dude. Am I making a mistake? Will this all just be for nothing in the future? How- DING!
My thoughts are cut off by the elevator arriving at the parking lot. I looked and saw Roman leaning against his red Chevy Camaro on his phone. He looked up slightly when he heard the elevator, then when he saw it was me, he put his phone away and got up. "Virgil!" Roman exclaimed as he saw me. Shit, he's so hot. Now I see why chicks dig dudes with cars, it amplifies the hot.
I waved at him and walked over. "Hey," nervously fidgeting with my hands, "You look nice." He wore his red Westerburg varsity jacket with a white button-down shirt underneath it. I looked down and saw red Vans. He likes red a lot, doesn't he? I smiled at him and saw a slight blush. Or was that the glare from his car? Probably the latter.
"Thanks!" Roman didn't seem as nervous as I was, but his tone wasn't as confident as before. "You do too." He seemed to look me up and down. He then gestured me into his car, thankfully not opening my door. We both got in and he started the car.
"So, where we headed?" I asked him.
Roman looked at me, one hand on the steering wheel, the other on his knee. "Well, you have a choice." He left the hand that was on his knee and held up three fingers. "Either, go to Olive Garden," he puts down one finger, "get ice cream," then puts down another, "or go to Olive Garden, get our food as takeout, then go eat at the nicest park I know, while getting ice cream after." He finished.
I pretended to think about it, but my choice was already decided. "I like the last option." I declared.
Roman's mouth turned up to form a big grin. "Me too."
And like that, we were off. Game time.
