Rebecca
"Bae you ready to go?" I asked, stepping into Matthew's room.
"Yea." He said putting on his watch. My baby is so fine. He was wearing a royal blue polo shirt with denim jeans and some timbs, well one timb. He had a boot on the other foot. We were about to go to a parade to get him out the house.
Since our last blow up we've been slowly improving. We talk more, express our love to each and we're getting back to us.
"Well come on bae. I don't wanna miss the parade."
"Now you know it takes time to look this good."he said putting his hand on his hip and propping up his leg.
I laughed. "Come on silly."

Riding in the car with Mrs. Sutton was too uncomfortable for me so I convinced Matthew to drive his car. We parked along side his parents. Matthew came around and opened my. We walked hand in hand. People was staring but I've gotten use to it all. We stood along the rail. The parade was just beginning. Matthew was behind me with his arm wrapped my waist and whispering sweet little nothings into my ear that had me cheesing from ear to ear.
"Your parents must hate you."
We looked up at this white police officer sitting on a horse. "Excuse me?" Matthew said.
"I bet your parents hate you for being a nigger lover! You make our race look bad!"
He spat at our feet and rode away. "What the hell was that about?!" Mr. Sutton fussed.
"Wouldn't have been any of that if you didn't condone this shit!" A random guy stated.
"Yea! White and black ain't meant to be together!"a woman shouted.
"Kids let get outta here." Mr. Sutton said guiding me and Matthew out of the crowds.
I was pissed. I was mad and hurt. We got back in the car and I started crying. "Baby,I know you not gone let them get to you."
"Matthew why can't people let us be together?"
"Cause they don't wanna see us together."
I didn't respond. He drove us back to his house where my car was. He insisted I come inside to calm down a little before I got in my car to go home.
"Man that was some bull." Matthew shouted.
"Son calm down."
"No dad. I'm tired of people doing that. That was so disrespectful."
"Well I think they're right."
We all looked to Mrs. Sutton. "Victoria, what did you just say?"
"Ma?!"
"Oh Matthew, I love you,and I support you in everything you do,but...really? Her?"
"And what's wrong with me?" I was about to snap. I've took enough of her crap.
"Yea ma,what are you tryna say."
She looked at me and twisted her lip. "That's she's a disgrace to mankind, and her role in your life should only be as a caretaker."
"YOU BITCH!"
"Rebecca!" Matthew shouted at me.
"No! Fuck that! I've been nothing but good to your son! Excuse the color of my skin, but damn! Can you not look pass that and see I'm a good person! I've done nothing to you, but help you take care of this boy and this shitty ass home! I see why you need a servant. Yo ass can't do shit for yourself! You evil, conniving bitch!"
"Matthew get her out of here." His father said. I could see his mom's eyes water. I didn't even care.
"No need. I'll leave on my own."
I stormed out with Matthew following behind me. He snatched me up and pinned my against my car.
"What the hell was that?!" He barked.
"What she deserved."
"Rebecca that's my mother."
"And! That's my respect! She has been nothing but evil to me! At the hospital while you was still out cold, she said I was only temporary. Did you know how that made me feel?! In the kitchen one day, she told me I was meant to be a slave!" I could feel myself breaking and all my tears falling. "She's always rude to me, and I've been nothing but respectful!"
He did have nothing to say. He just stared at me. I pushed him off me and got in car and sped home.
Matthew"I told you she was no good!" My mother sobbed.
"Victoria, that was not right." My dad fussed.
"What?! A mother's love?! Me trying to protect my son!"
"From what?!" I Yelled.
"Son, that's still your mother."
"No dad,she needs to hear this." He nodded his head. "Ma, Rebecca has been nothing but good to me and this family! She loves me!"
"She wants your money!"
"So now she's a gold digger?! First temporary, a slave, and now this."
She looked shocked. "Yes ma. She just told me the things you've been doing and saying to her."
"And it ain't right Victoria."
"So you're saying I deserved the disrespect?!"
"What about her respect?!" I shot back.
The room was silent. I shook my head. "You need to get yo shit together, cause the mess that just happened right here. Ain't right."
