"ash, can you tell your sister to clean her room before the party?" my mum asked
"sure mum" i replied
" oh ash-"
"yeah?" I replied
"remember that deal we made when you were younger" she reluctantly asked
"yeah." before she could reply, i went upstairs into my sisters room

it was my thirteenth birthday, and we were having a party to celebrate it.
i was so excited to officially become a teenager. i was younger than all of my friends, so sometimes I got teased, but it really didn't bother me from this point.
someone knocked the door and pulled me out of my thoughts
"come in" i said
"hey" my brother, ashton, walked in. he seemed kind of gloomy, I really don't know why, but I knew that once the party started, he would forget about his troubles and just have fun.
"what's up?" i asked him
"well, um mum said you need to clean your room before the party starts, and uh-"
"you can tell me ash"
" well, um, arabelle, i don't know hot to tell you this but.."
"but what?" i asked. he seemed worried. maybe the party was canceled? no, he just said mum told me to clean my room. why won't he just spit it out already!
"arabelle, you're adopted."
"c'mon, ash. stop playing with me" i didn't know if his words were true, i didn't want to believe him, but those words felt so real
"i'm sorry" he said refusing to look at me, tears streaming down his face.
why didn't he tell me this before?
why is he telling me now? on my birthday? they have been lying to me for 13 years! how can I ever forgive these people?
anger rose inside of me,
i went downstairs and told my "mum" that the party was over.
and from that point on, i thought
"i will never forgive these people,
even if my life depended on it."
