You know those moments when everyone seems to be talking about that one thing that you just have no idea about?

That was this moment.

Betty hadn't been able to come to the cafeteria for lunch which resulted in my sitting with them. It wasn't like I was some wallflower that had only one friend and was basically invisible because I actually wasn't. I knew a lot of people but I couldn't call a lot of people my friends.

"I'm so lost" I said finally which of course causes the talk to die down and everyone to turn to look at me like I was some sort of embarrassment to the gossip world.

Lily was the first to speak. She tucked her blonde hair behind her ear."Don't tell me you haven't heard of Adan. "

I gave her a blank look to which they all of course responded to with a sigh or a gasp.

"What? I've been busy" I said in defense trying to look like it didn't bug me the way they looked at me.

"Well busy bee, Adan is the new kid. Got here today. I've not actually seen him but I hear he's not much of a hottie."

Before I got the chance to comment, Emma jumped in. "He doesn't have that cute sexy bad vibe going on you know."

Matt flexed his muscles with a deep dimpley grin."What they mean is he's not compared to all this."

"Well shouldn't that be a relief seeing as there isn't much to actually compare with?" I teased which caused everyone around the table to laugh.

Matt held his hand to his chest. "You wound me Dani."

"There should be ice around here." I said simply giving him a little smug look.

He laughed."Ah. You love me Dani."

I rolled my eyes.

Even before I actually saw him I knew he was the new kid. He was standing in the middle of the hall way, holding a piece of paper and looking lost.

Now people in my school weren't uncharacteristically mean but that didn't mean they were nice either. They were more of 'give me a reason to like you and I just might consider it'.

So being the way that I was, I walked up to him. Actually that's wrong. Being the way that I was it was a surprise that I walked up to him.

Up close I could see what Lily and Emma meant. He wasn't a startling mind numbing beauty and he didn't seem to have that bad boy vibe but of course I could be wrong about that.

Rather he had wavy blonde hair that stopped short of falling into his eyes. His deep dark green eyes. He didn't have the kind of muscle that screamed 'I basically live in the gym and can take on fifty guy at once' but he did look like he could pack a punch.

"Uhm hey." I finally said drawing his attention down to me and I literally mean that. "You must be the new kid I heard about."

He smiled."I must be. So not even a day in school and words already flying around. " He sent me a slightly smug grin that I couldn't stop myself from chuckling at.

"It won't be a good thing once you've actually heard what they're saying." I said giving him a sour look.

" I already have. Whispering definitely isn't a part of this school's rare gift." He paused and took on a thoughtful look. "Who knew I had to wear black and cuss at everyone before I'm considered a bad guy?"

I laughed. He looked so serious and I had no doubt it was Emma that got that started.

"Well that's basically how it works right?"

"Is it?" He asked, lifting a brow. Something I still couldn't do. "Looks can be deceiving."

The laughter died from my lips replaced only by a little smile. "Yah." I said simply not knowing what I could say to that."Well I just came to see if you needed any help cause you kinda looked lost back there."

He rubbed the back of his neck." I am exactly that. Can't find room 2B."

"It's just around the corner. Close to the nurse's office"

He laughed interrupting me. I stopped and looked at him, eyes crossed.

"What's so funny?" I asked trying not to glare and probably failing.

He laughed louder. "Okay okay" He said finally putting his hands up and attempting to stop laughing. And not very well. "It's you actually. I hate to break it to you but I don't know any corners. Or nurse's office."

For some reason, a laugh bubbled at my throat." Right. My bad." I paused. "But it's still really rude to laugh you know. I'm basically the only one willing to help out."

" Okay. Okay. I'm sorry." He said, an amused smile still tugging at his lips.

I didn't say anything else. I just started walking slowly besides him until we got to the front of the door.

"Ah. I see the corner now."

I laughed."Shut up. Without me you'll probably be unable to find your way out of here."

He placed his hand on his chest and did a dramatic stumble."Oh no please no."

His eyes were rounded and he looked so cheeky that I couldn't help but let my lips tug into a smile.

I stuck my nose out."I might just reconsider but right now, get to class."

Adan rolled his eyes like he just remembered that he actually had class at the moment." So I'll see you later?"

I knew it was a question. It didn't make us friends just because I helped him out and we were talking and joking. I didn't have to speak to him again after this moment because for all I knew, he had no idea of my name and neither had he asked.

"Sure" I said simply before turning around and walking in the direction of my own class, wondering what just happened and why I actually spoke to him.

But not hating it.
