The lovely aroma of Folgers coffee brought me out of my peaceful slumber. I sniffed deeply, rubbing at the crust in my eyes. Yawning, I felt for Merle. The bed was empty, but still warm. He was awake, but I knew he hadn't been up for long.
Mama's sleepy voice filled my ears from the kitchen. "Hey, Merle. Makin' coffee?"
"Yeah. Autumn's still out. I'm gonna make her a cup. She promised me breakfast," Merle replied cheerfully.
I heard a rustling sound and realized he was reading the newspaper. Smiling, I crawled to the end of the bed and snatched my robe off the floor. My bedroom door was cracked, so that explained why I could hear them so easily. I slipped on my robe and went into my bathroom to relieve my full bladder.
"That's nice. She'll like that. It's the little things, ya know?" Mama was grinning. I could hear it in her voice. She thought he was cute, making me coffee like that. I thought so, too.
"Yeah." Merle turned a page in the paper. "Ooh, coupons."
He sounded giddy. I could picture his toothy grin in my mind. I giggled, wiping myself and securing my robe in the front. No one would know it by looking at him, but Merle was a coupon junkie. He always said saving a few bucks was important because you never knew when you were going to need that extra cash. I had to agree.
"Yer chipper this mornin'." Mama laughed. "Ya look weird in Jake's glasses."
"Oh, fuck. I wasn't thinkin'. Just didn't wanna strain ta read." Merle sounded guilty as hell. He probably thought he had upset her by reminding her of Daddy. I heard him fold the glasses in his hand. He knew where my Daddy had kept his things while he was alive, so he must have grabbed his glasses so he could read the paper.
"No, it's okay. I have fond memories of Jake readin' the paper in that same exact spot. It's a good memory, Merle. Put 'em back on." Mama's tone was sincere.
"In that case..." Merle unfolded them, put them back on, and went back to the paper.
I tiptoed out of my room and down the hallway. I wanted to peek at Merle without him knowing. I wanted to see him in a natural state before he knew I was there.
I felt like a peeping Tom when I poked my head around the doorway. Mama saw me but didn't say a word. She knew what I was doing. I had been peeking at Merle my whole life. She smiled, glancing at him to see if he knew. He didn't.
Merle was sitting in my Daddy's spot at the table with his nose buried in the coupon section. Mama was right. He looked weird in my Daddy's glasses. He looked a lot like him. I felt nostalgic, but in a good way, just like Mama had said. My soft giggling alerted him to my presence. His eyebrows shot up, his blue orbs taking me in over top of Daddy's glasses as he laid the paper on the table.
"Mornin', beautiful! Makin' ya some coffee. I want that breakfast ya promised me." Merle smirked. "Starvin', girl. Wha'cha got?"
"Food," I joked, smiling uncontrollably.
"Sounds great!" he played along, chuckling. "C'mere." He patted his thigh.
"Coffee's done," Mama announced, standing up.
"G'head." Merle offered her first cup, removing the glasses and setting them on the table. "Wanna hug my girl." He opened his arms, licking his lips. Mama turned her back on us, going straight for the coffee pot. I padded to him, stepping between his open knees. He closed his arms around me, guiding me into his lap. I sat on his cock on purpose, my lips turning up into a naughty grin.
"Hi," I said sweetly, wrapping an arm around the back of his neck.
"Hey," he responded with shimmery eyes. He pushed his hardening cock against my ass, his smirk growing. He kissed my forehead, then my lips, both of us ignoring our morning breath. "Seriously. What kinda food ya got?"
