Merle and I lounged together for hours in front of the fire before I fell asleep in his lap. I stirred a tiny bit when he carried me to bed, but that was it. The last thing I remembered was the feeling of him removing my robe, then the warmness of his body as he curled himself around my backside, then the rustle of the covers as he pulled them over top of us.

Merle left to go hunting way before I woke from my deep slumber the next morning. He was miles away on foot when I opened my eyes. Out of new habit, I reached for him, but then I remembered he had gone hunting and I was all alone. Feeling a sudden surge of anxiety, I jumped out of bed. Grabbing my robe from the floor, I shoved my arms through the sleeves and tied it in the front.

Where the fuck would he leave 'is pistol?? Would he even remember ta do that???

I practically flew to the living room to see if Merle had left his gun in there. My anxious mood grew even more neurotic when I didn't discover it. I decided to check the kitchen, breathing a sigh of relief when I spied it lying on the table in plain view, along with some spare bullets.

"Phew!" I exclaimed loudly, patting my pounding heart.

Gathering up the bullets, I carefully picked up the gun and took it back to the bedroom. Depositing the items on the dresser, I sat on the edge of the bed and scrubbed my shaky hand over my face.

Chill out. Yer fine. Merle left 'is gun like he said he was gonna do. Ya got nothin' ta worry 'bout anyway. Nothin' is gonna happen. Yer fine.

Sighing, I stood and went back to the dresser so I could look in the mirror while I brushed my messy hair. I pulled it back in a simple ponytail, then padded to the kitchen to make coffee.

Grabbing a mug from the cabinet, I dumped creamer and sugar in it, then stood at the counter in a daze until the coffee was ready while I stared out the window. It was only about 5 minutes until the coffee was done brewing, but I felt like I had been standing there forever. After I mixed my coffee with the creamer and sugar, I carried it into the living room and sat in the armchair.

I felt strange, like something was out of the ordinary or off. My anxiety had lessened, but I wasn't used to being alone. Here at the cabin, I was always with Merle. At home, Mama was always there. I always had someone to talk to. I was lonesome and restless.

Might as well make somethin' ta eat.

I decided to go back to the kitchen to make myself breakfast. We had brought some packets of instant oatmeal with us, so I began preparing one. I went to stick it in the microwave, but was pleasantly surprised to find a plate of food already waiting for me inside, along with a little note from Merle. All I had to do was heat it up.

-Made myself breakfast before leaving, so I made some for my baby girl too. You just gotta clean up my mess! I'm gonna abuse every hole in your body when I get back, so be ready for that!-

There was a crude smiley face with its tongue sticking out for his signature and a poorly drawn picture of a cock and pussy.

"Aww! He can be so sweet when he wants ta be! I love 'im so much!" I squealed, looking over the scrambled eggs and sausage he had left me.

Then I noticed the dirty dishes from the food he had cooked before he left to go hunting. I hadn't noticed them before because I had been too busy staring out the window.

"I'll warsh yer dishes. No problem!" I said happily.

I had some cleaning up from yesterday to do anyway, so I heated up my food and enjoyed it along with my coffee before cleaning up the kitchen. I washed all the dishes, wiped down all the surfaces, and made some more iced tea before taking a quick shower and brushing my teeth.
