chapter 5.

    While Charlotte was making her speech, I made eye contact with Peter, when he saw me his eyes lit up in recognition leading me to believe he hadn't seen my face when he zipped up my dress. Once she was finished she returned her attention to me.

    "Charlotte, why is he here?"

    Rather than answering my question, Charlotte walked towards him and beckoned me to follow. "y/n, this is Andrew, he's one of Jim's friends that is here tonight."

    Jim was Charlotte's boyfriend since high school, since becoming her best friend I naturally got to know him pretty well, too. However, I suppose in a weird way, it never directly occurred to me he had friends of his own, not because he's disagreeable or anything the thought just never came to mind. Avoiding prolonged eye contact with Andrew/Peter, I look away and greet him with a voice just louder than a whisper.

    "She's shy, I'm sorry, but I know she's happy to meet you.", Charlotte excused my quiet greeting.

    "We've actually met before."

    "REALLY? Well then y/n, you've no reason to be so shy!!", wiggling her finger, Charlotte expertly acted as if she'd no prior knowledge of this. "How'd you guys meet?"

    "Well it's actually a funny story, but I don't know if y/n would be embarrassed or anything."

    "Ohh, I see, well I'm sure y/n will become more comfortable with you over the weekend. You'll find your characters are rather close, and I've assigned you to each other as partners for the weekend!"

    "Do we have to have a partner? I think I might prefer to work by myself.", I finally spoke.

    "I'm sure we don't have to be partners.", Andrew spoke quietly, looking a little hurt and offended. I didn't intend to make him feel like that, I was just embarrassed by the thought of being his partner.

    "You don't have to, but I think it's good to have a person to bounce your ideas off of and compare clues with. Don't feel forced to though, I just kinda assigned a partner to everyone else so you guys would be at a disadvantage if you didn't work together, but the choice is yours.", Charlotte said. "Phillip darling, we should leave these two to study their roles and make decisions while we go welcome our other guests."

    Phillip(Jim) stood up to leave with Felicia(Charlotte). Despite my overwhelming nervousness, I decided to speak first. "I'm sorry if I offended you when I asked if we could work separately, I didn't mean to. I'm also really sorry for hitting you with the cart."

    "Don't worry about it, it's okay.", He smiled, he had such a contagious smile, I found myself smiling along with him.

    "We should probably open these up.", I say, pointing to our files.

    Well this'll be.. interesting. It seems Andrew's file has a bit more information in it so I decide to check my phone after reading. 

    "He's so sweet🥺 he didn't want to share the story and embarrass you. KJSDDHF get him girl!! I know you're scared, but I set this up for you. You both have personalities that I think will work well together! Now solve this murder and get to know him! At least become his friend, you know you can use the social practice"
