Chapter Nineteen: Frosty Firsts.

STATUS: Not edited.

 “Nothing burns like the cold.”

― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

I peeled my exhausted eyes open for the third time and sighed.

I couldn't sleep.

After slumbering peacefully for -what I presumed were- a couple of hours, a sudden burning sensation had lit a discomforting spark in my blood, and caused for hot flushes to rush beneath my skin. I tore away from my drowse, once I had begun to sense it.

I turned on my side and nibbled on the nail of one of my thumbs as I stared into the darkness.

My body felt strange; highly fatigued...yet strange.

I felt like something was coming.

My nerves knotted beneath my flesh and my ears began to ring. Unease rang through my senses and a thin sheet of sweat coated my skin.

I was terrified of something I didn't know of yet.

Confusion flitted through me as my heart hammered against my rib cage in fear. My fingers shook and I looked down at them as they flickered with a golden glow.

''What the hell?'' I murmured softly and felt the hairs at the back of my neck stand. Adrenaline began to pump through my body and I immediately threw my blanket off of my form, jumped off the bed and scanned the room.

My heart rate increased until I could feel it trembling in my throat, and I bit back my fear as I stared around the room.

I heard a sardonic chuckle and my eyes shot to the window sill, where I could have sworn I had seen nothing seconds before, but now saw a shadowy figure with snake like glowing eyes. I felt like the prey of a serpent as I stared into the terrifyingly beautiful pair of orbs. They were colored like a glacier, white, silvery in the middle with blue streaks at the edges of the irises. They reminded me of ice, both in their tone and the concentration of frost that they held within them.

I felt my heart beat quicken in my chest as apprehension crept upon me. I felt a pang of fear hit my gut, urging me to move away from this man, yet warning me not to make any sudden movements unless I wish for him to strike at me.

''Who are you?'' I growled at him, and felt the golden light in my hands burn, ''Tell me who you are, or I'll-''

''Hush,'' the stranger murmured in a voice that was deep, and held the same amount of power as Nyle's did. It also held a similar accent.

He twirled his finger in the air and ice nibble at my skin, as it rolled up my limbs and froze them. I was frozen, and the coolness of the ice had my teeth clattering and my muscles shivering.

''You can't hurt me, Delilah,'' the stranger spoke and at the click of his fingers, the lights flickered on, ''Don't even dare to threaten me.''

He had blond hair that was so light ,it could be mistook as silver or white; they were messy and the edges brushed across his long, thick and numerous white eyelashes. He had high cheekbones and thin, pink lips that were pulled into a smirk. He had a lean figure that suggested that he was athletic, and his skin was extremely pale.
