That night after I went to bed, I had this dream. And that's all. It would be helpful if I could remember it, but all I know is the I woke up to Damon pinning me down on my bed- without a shirt. This is awkward, I thought. My eyes trailed down his chest to his amazing six pack......mental slap! I looked back to his concerned eyes.
"What are you doing?" I breathed. Whoa, what was that?
"You were screaming, so I came in here to see what was wrong with you and saw that you were not only screaming, but trying to hit something. I tried to calm you down, but you only ended up trying to take a swing at me," he said. I made an 'o' shape with my mouth. That would explain why he was pinning me down, then. "Are you going to hit me if I let you go now?" he teased.
"I might kick you if you don't let me go," I said honestly. He released me and I sat up.
"You even want to smack me in your sleep," he stated. I laughed.
"Of course I do," I teased. Then I turned serious. "What was I screaming about?"
"You said something about 'mom, no!' and 'how could you, Ed?' and you also said- well, screamed- 'you lied to me, dad'," he said. The three people I had lost over the years. The three most important people I had lost as a little kid. "Does it really bother you? Being here I mean?" I shook my head. What bothered me was being here brought up so many memories. So many memories that brought up so many unanswered questions. Questions that I really wanted the answers to.
"What's bothering you?" he asked. I sighed and shut my eyes.
"Nothing," I lied. He wouldn't be able to help me if he tried.
"You know you can tell me, right?"
"Yeah, I know," I said.
"Okay, I'm gonna go back to bed."
"Okay," I smiled. He got up and stopped at the door on his way out.
"Did you enjoy the view?" he smirked. I threw my pillow at him. He chuckled. "I thought you did." Damon. He couldn't stop being him for squat. As I lay there, trying to get back to sleep, a thought crossed my mind. Maybe, just maybe, Mom noticed something about Ed before he killed her. Maybe they got into a fight or something and that was why Ed killed her. If there was a reason behind Ed killing her, not him just being a psycho, then maybe Mom told Cheryl. Or Bob. I could ask them. I hoped they would tell me. I just had to know why he did it. I needed to know why my mom died.
"Hello?" she answered the next day.
"Hey Cheryl," I said.
"Hayley! Oh, we were just about to call you!" she exclaimed.
"Really? Perfect timing then," I smiled.
"Is that Hayley?!" I hear in the background.
"Yeah!"
"HI HAYLEY!"
"Bob says hi," Cheryl laughed.
"Tell him I said hi right back."
"She said hi."
"Ask her if that boy has been using protection," he said. My eyes widened. Cheryl chuckled a little.
"Did you hear that?"
"Yes, and tell him that we didn't do anything," I said. Absolutely nothing and for some reason, I couldn't help but feel disappointed about that.
"They didn't do anything!"
"Is she SURE?"
"Bob, I'm pretty sure she would know if they did anything."
