CHAPTER THREE:
MAGIC
————————————"WHATS UP, BUTTERCUP?" i felt a smile spread over my face at the sight of him, he didn't have his glasses today and i finally got a good look at his hazel eyes.
"hi." he sent me one of his usual awkward waves, i felt a fondness sink into my bones. he's just so cute.
"the usual?" i could have stared at his blushing cheeks all day, but there was line and people were getting impatient already.
"uh-" he glanced at the menu behind me, "can i get coffee and something to eat— surprise me." i smiled, again. i was always smiling around him.
"okay, sit in or take out?" expecting him to say takeout, i started to grab a to-go cup."sit in. please." my smile grew.
"alright, take a seat and i'll take yours over to you in just a minute." he nodded and scurried away. i badly suppressed a giggle.
"kylie," i called to my employee, "can we swap, i'll do the tables and you do the register?" she raised her eyebrows and bumped me in the shoulder, but agreed.
"i'll act like that has nothing to do with the pretty doctor, yeah?"
"please." i rolled my eyes playfully— but she's right.i walked over to him, a sugar filled coffee in one hand a blueberry muffin in the other, i caught his eyes and he gave me a smile. it was a smile i'd never seen on him before, it was sure and sweet, no underlying nervousness and without an awkward wave attached.
it was my new favourite thing he does. but then, every new thing he does becomes my favourite.
"hi, again," it was embarrassing how quickly a smile came to my face as i reached his table. i placed his food on the table before i just awkwardly stood in front of him. i don't want to leave his company just yet— and i think he could tell because he smiled even wider.
"hi there." his voice was playful and i grew fond (as usual). his newfound confidence was attractive, it made me nervous and i couldn't help my rambling.
"i hope you like blueberry muffins, they're my favourite so i'd thought you might like one because, like, who doesn't? but then, i'm not saying you're weird if you don't— it's just like id probably think you were a total psycho freak because, who doesn't like blueberry muffins, but then maybe i shouldn't judge people for that but it's like, what they're so nice. even if i do say so myself, cause like, i baked them. but also that recipe is my grandmothers so i guess i can't take full credit. and oh gosh i'm rambling. sorry, spence." spence? oh my god someone shut me up.
"i'll let you get back to your, what are you doing?" i peered at him, "oh reading. is that romeo and juliet? oh my god, spencer reid, a hopeless romantic. i'll swoon."
