I remember when a 'father' once calls me an Anti-Catholic. Nagkataong kaibigan siya ng isang ninong ko na unfortunately (hehe), eh, isang relihiyoso... kuno. He says I misunderstand the church, that I should be baptized... again.
First, I don't misunderstand the church. Second, fuck you.
We know they are mostly a bunch of men who don't want to hear any legitimate arguments as why they're wrong on issues like contraception usage, gay marriage and why they worship wood carved 'saints' to the point of risking their fuckin' life just to get a kiss from that artwork. Come to think of it... bakit ka ba nagbubuwis buhay para sa santong gawa sa kahoy o ano pa man? Para gumaling sa sakit? Para sumagana ang buhay? Really, people?! Ang ginagawa ninyo ang magbibigay ng sakit sa inyo, and worse ang papatay sa inyo.
If one has to equate the influence and strength of the catholic church in the Philippines to the popularity of the black nazarene, he may end up confused. I mean, I know it is the largest sect in this country, and maybe about 90 percent of the Filipinos are catholics. Yet, despite its number, bakit parang mas nagwo-worship pa sila sa mga santo-santohan nila kaysa sa pinaniniwalaan nilang diyos? I don't understand why they take some risks for that, where in fact the bible says that they have a jealous god. That he don't want another god beside him.
Ok, here's the reality of the situation. A lot of people who call themselves catholics are not really practicing catholics. It means very little. They're cultural catholics. Cafeteria catholics. Sidewalk catholics. Park catholics. Beach catholics. I would love it if they would stop using the c-word. But for whatever reason, they still want to be part of the religious tradition.
On the other hand, naniniwala ako na kahit anong banal pa ng isang tao, we cannot push them to believe the same beliefs I / we have. Some may be offended and some will say that I should RESPECT their beliefs. Kaya nga naniniwala din ako sa salitang RESPETO. BUT, dapat yata respetuhin rin nila kung ano man iyang pinaniniwalaan nila. It's not a game show people na kung sino ang makahawak ay siyang magwawagi. Kayo rin mismo ang hindi nakakaintindi kong para saan ang ginagawa n'yo. Obviously, nakikiuso lang ang iba. Hindi ko nilalahat. Pero most of them ay ganoon, hindi ba?
Honestly, nagdadalawang-isip ako na mag-rant ng issue about religion dahil sa kadahilanang maaring ma-report at mabura 'to. But since one of my friend here is an ambassador, at sinabi naman niya at ng isa pang kaibigan ko na nasa code of ethics ng wattpad ang bawal magialam ng paniniwala ng iba. :)
Kabilang ako iilang hindi naniniwala sa religion (yes! I am not kidding).
Religion can't save you from the fires of hell.
