A lot of things went wrong, all at once. First, Sophie pulled away quickly. What if? I couldn't go there the thought killed me to think about.
Then Ruy caught the three of us in a forcefield and laughed. For whatever reason Sophie didn't seem scared not one bit.
But, she probably was pretty scared when she saw my mother standing in front of her, laughing as well.
Because she shot a blast of light right at my mother's heart.
