I woke up super early happy that it was the weekend. I got Hailey ready for school and her sitter dropped her off. I decided to opt for loose coulettes and a plain black blouse and black sandals. My hair was pulled back into a simplistic ponytail and I opted for a black mini bag. I was ready to rush out the door when a flash of color stopped me. Right there on my doorstep were flowers and an official invitation that had Orion's company insignia on it. It was formally inviting me to an unlisted event and told me to contact him at my earliest convenience. I was both shocked and slightly aggravated that he had the nerve.
The last day at the office always seemed to drag on the longest, but I couldn't necessarily complain it wasn't like my job was horrible. I mean if you compared me to anybody else I was living the dream. Vinn sent a car for me so I no longer had to ride the bus. The driver was kind and polite, and if I was working a regular nine to five I think driving wouldn't be so bad. I had some boring jobs in my life, and I always seemed unhappy at each one of them. But at the jobs that I had recently it felt as if I was actually contributing towards something. I didn't have a degree, but I was doing a good job. In fact, I may just be the luckiest woman alive.
I arrived at the office ready to work, today I would actually be at the office which was fine with me. Either way it went it didn't really feel as if I was working, and on top of that I was able to provide for Hailey once again and I didn't feel like the worst mother in the whole world. I was immediately swept up in the hustle and bustle at the office, signing stacks of papers, prepping for meetings, making tons of phone calls, and I even got to speak to a celebrity about a charity fund. I kept thinking about how much I loved my job, but I also loved my job at Orion's office too. I thought about him here and there and lunch was the perfect opportunity to contact him back.
"Miss London? Hi, am here on behalf of our boss. I am one of his event assistants, I have an invitation to you for a formal event and I dress everyone who is going to be attending events with him. So today we are taking the day off in order to get you prepared. So grab your things and our ride will be here shortly."
"Event?" I say, glancing down at the invitation and then I suddenly realize the event is the same day that Orion invited me out.
"Do I have time to make a quick phone call?"
"Of course, our ride shouldn't be here for another ten minutes and I can met you on the first floor." she says smiling.
"Thank you I will be right down."
I go into one of the bathrooms and I dial Orion's phone number, and he picks up after the first ring.
"Hello?" he says, acting as if he doesn't know me.
"Orion, I got your invitation. I'm sorry but I won't be able to go something else came up. I hope that you understand as a man of business."
"I see, well thank you for considering it Miss London."
"You have some nerve." I say.
"Nerve? What do you mean exactly?"
"The way you disrespected me, the way that things were left, not even a phone call? Then you ask me out on some event as if we're best friends?"
"Yamina, I'm sorry I am sure we are off to a bad start. I would like to make it up to you, but I am actually in a meeting. Can I call you back soon?"
You stopped a meeting to speak with me? If I didn't know any better I would say that you've actually started developing emotions. Better be careful, you might end up losing your title."
