"You can't convince yourself this early on. It's been, it's, it's only been a few hours! She wasn't directly in the fire! She's not just gonna die!" The woman said as she flailed her arms dramatically. "Let the doctors do their work. They know what they're doing!"

"They're not doing enough!" Clementine rose her voice.

"They're doing all they can!" Zee counteracted. The woman shook her head, sitting down beside the brunette and wrapping an arm around her back, she pulled her in closely. "We should go."

"I wish I knew why you're so adamant for me to leave. If this was you and Brody, I'd be letting you take all the time you need, yet here you are rushing me!" She replied sharply.

Zee, taking her arm off of the brunette, sighed and stood. "I'm not adamant for you to leave, I just want you to get some sleep. And I don't want the cops finding drugs on you."

"There are no drugs on me."

"Well, what about in you, then?" She said, crossing her arms with furrowed eyebrows. Silence fell over the two as a small sniffle came from the younger brunette.

"I'm fucking scared."

"I know."

"No, really, I am. Had something good, for, for once in my shitty life, I had something good, someone good, and I fucked it up and now she might never know how much I love her. I might not even get to apologise. She could die thinking I hate her." She sniffled. Zee shook her head, leaning down in front of the blonde with the intent to talk to her before Brody arrived back.

"I got you hot chocolate. The coffee here is gross." She handed it to Zee, before handing the shaking brunette a coffee, she mumbled a thank you.

"So... No updates then?"

"T-This is stupid." Zee said, looking away from both her wife and best friend. "We should just go. There's no point in hanging around here. We could get some contagious virus or something."

Clementine rolled her eyes and sipped her coffee, she stood up gently. "You two can go. I can stay."

"I'm not leaving you alone!"

"I'm not alone, I have Violet."

"Oh, and she's gonna protect you? She can't even breathe on her own right now!"

"Zoe..." Brody looked at her wife disapprovingly. She shook her head slightly before turning away. Zee simply shook her head and sighed.

"I just don't want you to get hurt."

"I don't care anymore, if I want to get hurt that's up to me." Clementine said, throwing the coffee into the trashcan and standing up. "I'm not your kid."

"No? Whose house did you live in for what, a year, two? When you couldn't afford your own place?"

"What?" She laughed. "I have to do everything you say because you took me in?"

"You could at least understand why I care so much about you."

"If you care about me as much as you claim you do, you'd let me go be with her." She pushed her a lot harder than she had initially thought.

"Zoe!" Brody yelled as the brunette stumbled back and fell, both her and Clementine going to help her up. The younger girl was apologetic at first, it was never supposed to go this far, was it?

"Zee, I'm so..." Clementine trailed off, her expression being replaced with one of a more suspicious and rage filled one.

"Where the fuck did that come from?" She pointed to the older woman's leg in shock. Her pant leg had ridden up slightly, showing a bright red, gooey looking burn.
