Cedric and I completed our first year without any hiccups. Other than him completely biffing his Charms exam, we were fine. Also after a particularly uneventful second year, I was ready for things to be different, shaken up.
Lucky for me, my third year was going to be interesting. Once Cedric and I had met up on the platform, we had already noticed excited groups of people huddled together and speaking in hushed whispers, occasionally taking a moment to glance around.
"Whadd'ya think that's about?" Cedric mumbled, leaning over to speak in my ear.
Over the summer, Cedric had sprouted up quite considerably, to the point where he was a bit taller than me.
"No clue. It is rather odd though," I said, leaning onto his arm.
Cedric glanced down at me with a tiny grin on his face, and quickly turned away when I looked up at him. Suddenly, I was ripped away from him by two people who smelled like cinnamon.
"Eva! Finally you're here," A voice exclaimed.
I looked up at the Weasley twins, who were both grinning down at me. They also happened to have grown quite a bit, they were taller than Cedric.
"What's going on? What's got everyone in a twist?" I asked, staring back around at everyone in their quiet groups.
"You haven't heard?" Fred scoffed.
"Obviously not," I said impatiently.
"Harry Potter is here," George whispered eagerly.
My eyes widened immediately, and I began craning my neck and staring around like everyone else on the platform.
"And guess what?"
"We met him," Fred said proudly.
The twins puffed their chests out and began strutting around. I quickly grabbed their arms and pulled them in before they embarrassed themselves too much.
"What do you mean you met him?"
"We'll tell you later," They said, strutting off as their mother called their names.
I sighed and turned back to Cedric, who was speaking to some of his Hufflepuff friends.
"Hey, Eva," One of them said, glancing back and forth between Cedric and I, grinning wildly.
Cedric gave him a playful shove.
"Hey, have you guys heard that Harry Potters' here?" I asked.
Cedric was staring down at his feet, but his head quickly snapped up to stare at me.
"Harry Potter? Here?" He hissed.
I nodded, watching him with a small smile as he stared around, spinning around a bit. His friends quickly began whispering, and turning around themselves.
"Apparently Fred and George have met him!" I said.
Cedric turned back at me to roll his eyes skeptically.
"Yeah, sure," He muttered, giving me a look.
"Oh, come on. What's that supposed to mean?"
He sighed.
"I mean, it's Fred and George. They'd love to make a joke and take the mickey out of you," He explained.
It was my turn to roll my eyes.
We boarded the train, and I shared a compartment with Cedric and his friends. We mostly talked about our classes and being on the Quidditch team, as they were the only thing we all had in common.
