After eating, Hawk cleaned up and set about trying to figure out the missing number. One digit at a time, from 0 to 9 he worked his way through and apologized for getting the wrong number.
After hanging up Hawk tried the next number and repeated the process all over again. A polite woman answered the first time and was sweet about the mistake. The next was answered by an old man who obviously couldn't hear well, as he continued to say what after Hawk had spoken to him.
The next one was a rather angry man, who yelled at Hawk and cursed Hawk for bother- ing him. Next was a young girl with a lot of questions, which Hawk answered patiently. This really is getting frustrating, Hawk thought as he dialed the next number.
The next woman growled at Hawk, stating that he made her almost burn her food and rudely hung up. Hawk let out a sigh before dialing the next number and after a few rings was picked up by a girl. "Hello?" She said in a sweet tone. Hawk hung up, his heart beating rapidly in his chest.
It took a few minutes to register, but it hit Hawk like a ton of bricks. I just hung up on Kimmy...I hope she won't be angry with me...wait...she couldn't know who did it, Hawk thought as he plopped down on the couch. Hawk turned on the TV and tried to forget what he had done to Kimmy.
Hawk flipped through the channels, but couldn't take his mind off of what he had done. Hawk stood up and began to Pace the floor with worry. Hawk finally set back down on the couch and concentrated on watching TV. However every so often, Hawk looked over at the phone and wondered if Kimmy would call him.
This waiting is really nerve-wracking, Hawk thought as he sat there watching TV. Around noon Hawk made some lunch and as he ate, he stared at his phone. After he finished eating he cleaned the dishes and went back to sit on the couch.
Once again he watched TV and every so often glanced at his phone, hoping Kimmy would call him. The day was winding down and Hawk got up to make himself dinner. Meatloaf mashed potatoes and corn was what he whipped up and sat down at the table to eat. After dinner he washed the dishes, took a shower and went to his bedroom.
Hawk lay down on his bed and stared at the ceiling, his cell phone still in his hand. Come on Kimmy call me...come on Kimmy call me, Hawk thought as he stared at the ceiling. It was so quiet Hawk could hear his heartbeat and counted them for a while.
It wasn't long before Hawk begin to feel tired and his eyes refused to stay open. It was now after 10:00 p.m. and Hawks eyes just wouldn't stay open. Soon Hawk's eyes shut and he drifted off to sleep.
Kimmy looked at him through the slits in her eyes, anger twisted her face as she spoke. "How dare you call me and then hang up, did you think that I wouldn't notice your phone number?" Kimmy ground at Hawk.
"I...I didn't mean to, I... I was just nervous." Hawk stuttered as he looked at Kimmy with surprise on his face.
"A likely story, I hate you and I'm never going to talk to you again!" Kimmy yelled.
"Aaaaah!" Hawk cried out as he sat up and blinked his eyes. I'm still in my room, it was another one of those damn dreams, Hawk thought as he sat up on the edge of his bed. When are these crazy night- mares going to stop, Hawk thought as you stood up.
Hawk made his way into the kitchen, grabbed himself some cereal and sat down to eat. After cleaning up, Hawk stepped out of the front door and locked it. He walked to the elevator and made his way down to the lobby. Stepping out side, he saw a partly cloudy sky and hoped it wouldn't rain.
Hawk walked down the street, looking through store windows as he passed. I have no idea what I'm going to do to pass the time, Hawk thought as he made a left turn. "Hawk." A voice called out from behind him and when he turned around he saw who it was.
"Kevin, what brings you out here?" Hawk said with a raised brow.
"Eh, got bored and decided to find something to do." Kevin replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Yeah I was a bit bored myself." Hawk said with a sigh.
"Why don't we go to the arcade and have some fun." Kevin said with a smile.
"Sure let's go" Hawk agreed as they headed towards the arcade. It was a big red brick building with sliding glass doors. Above it was a neon sign with a soldier at war and the words Game Over lite in red neon.
Inside the walls were red with black trim and the carpet was red with a black filigree pattern on it. All kinds of video games, pinball machines and others filled the place. Near one wall stood a counter and stools. This was the snack bar that had a variety of food.
They walked over to Phoenix, a pinball game that features a bird of fire and a rapid fire triple ball bonus if you can secure all three balls during the game. They laughed and talked, as they played the game trying to beat each other's score.
The day went by as they played several games and enjoyed the food as well as the games. "Well it's getting late, I'm going to start back home." Hawk said as he turned to leave.
See you tomorrow at school." Kevin replied with a smile. It turned out to be a better day then Hawk thought it would be. Hawk made his way home, but heard shuffling feet behind him.
Hawk jumped with a start, as he felt som5poje him from behind. "Hay!" Hawk exclaimed as he spun around to see what poked him. "Peter!" Hawk yelled as he saw the couches boy there with his finger extended towards Hawk. "Stop sneaking up behind me!" Hawk growled.
"You and your anal crap." Hawk said as he backed away.
"I don't say bad things about the things you like." Peter replied with a frown.
"Yeah, but I don't go around poking people without their ok." Hawk said as he looked at Peter's face. "From now on you stay in front of me when ever your around me." Hawk told him.
"Ok, where are you head- ed?" Peter asked as he walked where Hawk could see him.
"I'm going home." Hawk replied as he kept an eye on Peter.
"Ok, I'm on my way to see Kevin, see you later." Peter said as he turned down another street and waved goodbye. Peter is the weirdest person I have ever met, Hawk thought as he continued home. The days were getting warm getting warmer and showed the signs of spring.
Hawk couldn't wait for warmer weather, but when summer comes he wouldn't see much of Kimmy. I don't know what to do, I hope I will see Kimmy during the summer, Hawk thought as he entered Sky Apart- ments.
He caught the elevator and after two stops, got off on his floor. Hawk noticed a woman with long black hair unlock and enter 4B. That must be the neighbor, Hawk thought as he unlocked his door and stepped inside.
He shut the door behind him, set his backpack next to the couch and went to the kitchen to make something for dinner. The weekend is almost over, wonder what's going to happen next, Hawk thought as he made himself something for dinner. Hawk sat down to eat and pondered whatv he was clean to get into the next day.
After eating Hawk cleaned his dishes and went to his room to grab some clothes. He went to the bathroom turned on the shower adjusting the water, before stripping and stepping inside the shower. When you went through stepped out, dried himself off and got dressed. The sun was vanishing into the horizon at Hawk made his way to the living room and sat down on the couch.
How picked up the remote, turned on the TV and searched for a movie to watch. For a while Hawk just said there and watched the movies until it got late. How come it out a yawn as he stood up and stretched. I hope I don't have another one of those nightmares tonight, Hawk thought as he walk to his bedroom.
Hawk stepped into his room, laid down on his bed and looked at the ceiling . Thoughts of what could happen tomorrow ran through his head and as he thought, his eyes got heavy and he drifted off to sleep.
