A/N: This takes place a few years into their relationship.

Love Story

Zoe rested her chin on Eve's shoulder, feeling the press of Eve's back against her. Zoe squeezed her arms tighter around Eve momentarily, giving Eve a quick hug, then returning to the loose embrace. She nuzzled her face into Eve's hair, and felt Eve laugh softly against her. Zoe smiled into her hair, and Eve snuggled closer.

The two were spending the evening together, though neither had planned a time for Eve to go home. They were sitting in Zoe's bed, the T.V. automatically turned off after it being ignored for too long. Eve was wrapped up in Zoe's arms, half lying down, propped up against her girlfriend, who was holding her. Slowly, Zoe lifted an arm to lift a portion of Eve's hair. She twirled it around her finger, holding the black lock in front of them both. Eve watched it, entranced, and tired. She yawned.

"Zoe?" she asked slowly. Zoe lifted her face and turned Eve and her own face so that Eve was at an angle, and Zoe was looking down at her.

"Yes?" Zoe responded, giving Eve her full attention.

"I've always been curious what it would be like to have a love story," Eve breathed. Zoe raised an eyebrow.

"And now?" Zoe questioned. Eve smiled.

"Now I just really want to... do all those things from stories together," Eve said, with wonder in her gray eyes. Zoe's eyes searched those depths, and could only find an innocent wonder that she couldn't help but love. She smiled affectionately, and pulled Eve closer.

"We should stay up all night on New Year's together, one day," Zoe said. Eve's eyes lit up. Catching on, she said,

"And go to an amusement park! I've always wanted to go on a rollercoaster."

Zoe's eyes widened in surprise.

"You've never been on a rollercoaster?" Zoe exclaimed. Eve shook her head, looking up at Zoe through dark eyelashes.

"Honey, this weekend I am taking you, no excuses," Zoe said. Eve grinned, agreeing.

"And we have to have traditions," she said excitedly. Zoe nodded her head vigorously, enjoying the childish joy they were sharing.

"Like, every night, you have to talk to me. You have to be the last person I talk to every day," Zoe said. Eve laughed at her simple yet adorable request.

"Then, you have to be the first person I talk to every day," Eve said expectantly. Zoe smiled widely.

"Of course!" she said willingly. "What else?"

Eve hummed to herself, thinking. She turned to her side, resting her head against Zoe's chest, and feeling Zoe adjust around her. They fit perfectly.

"On my birthday, you have to give me a kiss the minute I was born," Eve said hesitantly. Zoe tilted her head in interest.

"Will do, my love," Zoe said, and watched as a smile bloomed on Eve's face. They both knew it was the little things that brought them happiness.

"And, Zoe, did we have all the crazy, exciting moments, before we started going out?"

Zoe understood what she meant, and her eyes twinkled.

"You mean how every time I'd see you, I'd feel like-" Eve interrupted her with a red face and a quieting finger.

"Oh, shush," Eve said. Zoe grinned.

"Seriously, though, those tension filled romantic moments, that slow burn before you were mine?" Zoe winked. "we totally had those."

Eve smiled reluctantly, chuckling to herself.

Suddenly, Eve's eyebrow shot up. She opened her mouth to speak.

"Do we have-" Eve started to say, but as soon as she said those words Zoe's eyes widened and she said,

"Oh my- I don't know when our anniversary is!" Zoe said, shaking her head in shock. Her eyebrows furrowed. "That is a problem."

Eve nodded her head in agreement.

"Is it cheating if we just like, pick a day? And, think of it as the day we started dating?" she asked. Zoe tilted her head back, and laughed. Eve watched in confusion as Zoe giggled and felt Zoe shaking next to her. Finally, Zoe calmed down. Eve watched her expectantly.

"Sorry, sorry," Zoe said, still smiling. "I'll bet you Elle remembers. I can't believe neither of us do!"

Eve lips turned up at the corners, eyes sparkling.

"We really do fit, huh," Eve said softly. Zoe looked at her seriously. Then she placed a kiss on Eve's forehead, and said sweetly,

"Yes, we do," Zoe said. Eve smiled wider, as if reassured. "Even if that means finding the smallest things hilarious, and having the time of our lives simply staying in and talking together, I couldn't be with anyone but you."

Eve's lip trembled a little, and Zoe pressed a kiss to them. Eve brought her hands to Zoe's head, fingers tangling in Zoe's hair. Zoe broke away, kissing Eve's forehead, then eyelids, her cheek, and finally her lips again. Eve could still feel the warmth of Zoe's lips when Zoe pulled away. She snuggled closer into the embrace. Eve was at peace. Randomly, Zoe spoke up.

"I want us to have this," Zoe said quietly. "A whimsical, fun, sweet tale with ups and downs, and endless love. I want my heart to ache for you, I want to share everything with you, the little things, the big things, the crazy things, I want to stay up talking to you every day. I want to be able to read you like a book, but nobody else can!" At this, Eve grinned. "I want to do everything with you, I want us to grow old together, and one day, tell the story of the sweetest woman in the world, and the woman who was, is, so hopelessly in love with her. I want to live this adventure, with you."

Eve's smile broadened. She knew everything she was feeling was conveyed, in their embrace, in her voice, and in her eyes.

"I want that too," Eve breathed. "That's what- that's what I meant to say before. That's what I want. And I have it. But I can't wait, even though I'm living it right this very second, for every moment with you," Eve paused, and Zoe gazed at her. "Also, is it a little weird that we are talking about us like this?"

Zoe's face broke into a grin. All seriousness gone, she said,

"Maybe a little. But it's true that I'm that little girl who wanted to grow up and have a romance, like a fairytale. I don't know what to call what we have, but I can say that you are everything I have, and ever will, wish for, and more," Zoe said fondly. Eve tucked in her chin, shy, but pleased. Zoe continued. "Yep, that's weird, I can't believe I just had that conversation with my girlfriend."

Eve giggled.

"I don't regret it though. I guess it is a little odd, that I wish I could tell this, like a story..." Eve trailed off. "I have a request," Eve said. Zoe looked at her in question, allowing her to continue.

"One day, tell me your story," Eve said. "Tell me when, how, why, you love me. Tell me all your feelings, and what you're thinking."

Zoe cocked her head in interest.

"Deal. I expect the same from you, though," Zoe said, eyebrows raising. Eve's face reddened.

"Not anytime soon, then," Eve mumbled. Zoe poked her.

"Putting it off won't make it go away! Besides, it was your idea to have me spill my guts," Zoe twitted. Eve pouted. Zoe grinned and stood up, and sat down again, facing Eve a foot away from her. Eve rubbed her eyes, and stretched. She missed the comfort of Zoe's body immediately. Zoe extended a hand, and said,

"It's a promise. When we're old and gray, you better spill the beans." Zoe announced. Eve put her hand in Zoe's, and shook, eyes twinkling.

"It's a promise," Eve agreed.

Then Zoe dropped Eve's hand, and opened her arms wide expectantly.

"Now c'mere, I'm cold," Zoe said. Eve laughed, and crawled back into Zoe's embrace. Soon enough, they were both asleep.

It didn't look like Eve was going home that night.
