Miyagi Prefecture
It was Sunday morning, two weeks before the official starting of school. In two weeks, you were going to be in Seijoh. You're sitting on a wooden bench in the park, Iwaizumi and Oikawa on either side of you. Iwaizumi has a gray hoodie on, a denim jacket over it. Oikawa wears his usual white hoodie with an alien face print on the top left.
"We're going to be 2nd years, and you're going to be a 1st year! Since it's school, you have to call us senpai." Oikawa stuck up his nose haughtily, while Iwaizumi and you looked disgusted.
"No."
"Y/n-chan~" Oikawa whined looking hurt.
"Like I'm ever going to call you senpai." You rolled your eyes, glancing at your side to see Oikawa throw a tantrum about how you have to "respect your elders."
Iwaizumi and you started talking conversing, purposefully ignorant to the sulking Oikawa.
"Oh!" You suddenly remembered what you had to say, "I almost forgot to tell you guys, my parents are going to be going to America for three years starting in a few days."
"Three years?" Iwaizumi tilted his head. "You sure you're going to be okay? You won't burn down the house?"
"It'll be fine it'll be fine~ Have some more faith in me, would you?"
Oikawa turns his head and stops his sulking. "Not too far fetched that you'd accidentally start a fire... again..."
"Tooru! That was like, one time, and it was your fault for turning the oven on beforehand!" You folded your arms. "Besides, my aunt just broke up with her sixth boyfriend and got kicked out, so she'll be staying with me. If anything happens she'll help."
Iwaizumi looked at you as if you were just plain dumb. "Okay, I'm starting to think your house won't be the only thing on fire."
"You don't trust my aunt either?!"
"It's not like we don't trust her, we love your aunt, it's just-" Oikawa paused. "Yeah it's because we don't trust her."
Letting out a sigh, you accepted his answer. "Anyways, I want to know more about you guys, who else on the team is in your year?"
"Oh, you're talking about Mattsun and Makki!" Oikawa answered, looking bright.
"Mattsun and Makki?" What kind of kanji is that?
"Matsukawa and Hanamaki. They're just victims of Oikawa's nicknames."
"I see... what positions?"
"Middle blocker and wing spiker, I'm pretty sure next year they'll be in the starting lineup."
You're glad that the two don't get defensive at the topic of volleyball like the others, who worry about offending you since you used to be on a team. "What are they like?"
Iwaizumi winced, "Problem children. Matsukawa won't stop his pranks while Hanamaki keeps on bringing sweets into practice. Together they're a nightmare to deal with."
You laughed softly. "They sound interesting, I wish I could play with you guys~"
"Come on, y/n-chan, you say that every time. Even if you somehow managed to play volleyball with your protective parents like this, you still can't be in the boys volleyball team-"
Suddenly, you had an idea.
"But what if I can?" You smirked at their confused faces.
"Huh? Join the boys volleyball team? I mean I'm sure they'll be elated about getting a manager but would you be fine just watching-"
"No no no- I'm saying if I can join as a player."
Now they're even more confused. Iwaizumi raised a brow, "I'm pretty sure the Dean won't allow a girl in the boys volleyball team, even if you practiced with us you can't be in an official match."
"But-" Oikawa spoke up, smiling. "Her parents will be stalking the girls' to make sure you don't join, they won't think about looking at the boys' club."
You grinned, glad that Oikawa wasn't as oblivious to your plans as Iwaizumi was.
"Well I guess but you still can't join as a player-"
"What if I don't join as a girl?" Iwaizumi's eyes widened, finally understanding.
"Cross dressing?" He asked, you nodded your head, not breaking eye contact. Iwaizumi looked at you suspiciously. "What if you get caught?"
"I won't." You said simply. "The worst they can do if they find out is take me out of the club.
Not like I'll die from pretending to be a boy.""True..."
"Also, I'm sure my aunt will comply with getting me entered in the school as a boy, so we don't have to worry about that either." You smiled smugly, working out the plan in your head.
Iwaizumi leaned back on the bench, looking up. "It could work."
"Yeah it can."
He contemplated, still staring at the sky. The clouds overhead blocked the sun, making the morning look gray and deluded. "Even if I try stopping you, you'd still do it."
"I would."
"And there's not really any reason to try stopping you either." He turned to you, sighing. "Besides, Oikawa and I have to be there to make sure you don't hurt yourself again."
You laugh, "Thank you~" grateful that the two have your back, you get up from the bench, practically skipping forward.
"Where are you going?"
Smirking, you turned your head. "Im going to get a hair cut."
