"Ved, have you heard from Garry recently?", I asked him one fine sunny evening sipping hot tea and munching biscuits along with it.
"Yeah, a week ago.", he answered taking a biscuit from the place.
"Hmm. How are they?", I asked calmly.
"They are fine Jay. Why do you ask?", he questioned.
"Nothing in particular. It has been so long since I heard about her and Garry. That's it.", I said though I am only partially true. Actually, I have this feeling to know how she has been recently. I couldn't find myself pulling out my phone and make a call. It is scary.
"Hmm. Actually, she asked me the same.", he added later.
"She asked what?", I asked curiously.
"Curious ye? She asked how you are doing.", he teased.
"Oh, what did you say?", I asked giving my hundred percent attention to his words by looking at him expectantly.
"I told that you have gone completely crazy and making my life miserable.", he sighed dramatically.
"You said that?", I asked with my eyes open wide in shock.
"Of course, I told her the truth. That is what is happening here, isn't it?", he challenged me with his snarky comments.
"Nice try, Ved. Remind me to laugh later, I can laugh for hours at this. But for now, cut the shit and tell me what you have told her about me.", I am annoyed now with his sarcasm.
"Hahaha, Desperate much, Jay. I told her that you have gone crazy learning everything again and making my life miserable by working all the time and not spending enough time with me. I was true, wasn't I?", he told with a straight face that held no emotion.
"Oh, what did she say, for that?", I asked again not paying attention to his straight face.
"Nothing. She didn't comment anything on that.", he said and continued, "Can I go now. If you are done with your interrogation?" with a somewhat uninterested face.
"Oh. Where are you going by the way?", I asked remembering his accusation of not spending any time with him. That's actually a bit true. I wanted to learn everything as fast as I can so that I can share his burden in managing the work and company. In that process, we didn't get much time to talk except for a few minutes while we eat. I feel bad for him in this thing.
"Me? You are asking me where I am going? Why are you asking anyway? Don't you have anything to 'learn' now?", he snapped at me stressing on the word learn to make his point. I know he was hurt.
"No, I actually thought we can go somewhere. Like a movie or something? I am actually not in a mood to 'learn' today. I want to spend some time with my best friend.", I said to him calmly so that it can cool his anger a little. "Is it too much to ask?", I added a dramatic effect.
"Dramatic much, Jay. This is what I meant when you are making my life miserable. I can't handle this much drama. Oh my god, they have to give me the Nobel prize of peace for still being with you.", he said rolling his eyes. He was shocked for a second but he never leaves any chance to have fun. That is what makes him special.
