We're Not Enemies Anymore (Part 1)

This one is based on one of the episodes (you'll know which one haha). I just made it my own and twisted it a bit for the story. That being said, it most likely won't be exact words and/or accurate, but is loosely based on that episode. Also, fun fact: one of my cats is named Lucille.

It was the sound of the gunshots that made me jump up from my table and sprint outside. Ever since we took control of Alexandria I've been on edge in case they try to attack. I have a bad feeling about this group- they're probably stronger than we think.

I swing the door to the outside world wide open and stop instantly. Everyone's eyes that were originally on a boy my age turn towards me. I then notice the two dead bodies on the ground circled with blood, a gun being held by my dad, Lucille in his other hand, and a smirk on his face.

"Y/N!" my dad yells, still smirking. "Can you believe this? This kid killed two of my men. Hid in the truck to try to kill me. Well kid," he turns back to the boy. "I don't die." He tosses the gun to one of his people behind him and lightly swings his bat around. After a few seconds he stops and looks back up at the kid. "You're  Rick's kid? What's your name?"

The boy stares my dad in the eye with hate, but doesn't say anything.

"I asked you for your name. I ask, you answer. Don't make this complicated; what's your name, young man?" My dad straightens himself out, pointing Lucille in the boy's face to seem more intimidating.

"Carl," he mutters.

"Well, Carl," he says, lowering his bat to his side. "You have some balls coming out here trying to kill me like that. Now, what to do with you?" He thinks for a moment and then looks at me. "Y/N, you must have come out here in a rush like that with an idea. What do we do with him?"

"Oh, Dad, I just- I just came out because I heard gunshots. It scared me because I didn't know what was going on and-"

"Scared you?" He turns back to Carl. "You scared my daughter. I think you owe her an apology." He motions in my direction with Lucille, but Carl doesn't say anything. "Young man, I said you owe her a damn apology!" He practically yells.

"Dad, it's fine-"

"I'm sorry," Carl whispers.

"What was that? I couldn't really hear you," my dad says.

"I'm sorry," Carl says louder, looking at me this time.

I just nod and turn to walk back inside, but my dad calls my name. "Y/N, wait. I need you to help me." I stop but don't turn around. "You can take Carl here on a tour. Have him in my room in an hour. I want to talk with him."

Knowing I couldn't get out of this, I rolled my eyes and looked back to see Carl walking towards me. Everyone else is silent and watching Carl almost as if to make sure he doesn't have another gun hidden somewhere. I pushed open the door and waited for it to slam shut before I faced Carl. "Look, sorry about my dad. He tries really hard to be intimidating but he's actually not that bad once you get to know him. I mean, I know I'm his daughter and all, but it's true." He doesn't say or do anything. "Just please, don't try to run off or escape. You think you can, but really, you can't. Everyone in this building will know about you and what you did in about 5 minutes so there's no way you would be able to leave without at least one gunshot wound."

"Why are you helping me by telling me this? Wouldn't you rather have me dead? I tried to kill your dad! We're enemies-"

"Carl, your group is scared of us, and some of us here are scared of what you guys are capable of. It doesn't make us bad people for trying to stop the problem." I start walking down the hallway, Carl right behind me. "Of course, I don't always agree with what my dad does, but I think he does it so he can get rid of a problem before it starts. You never know what kind of people you can meet in this fucked up world."

The rest of the walk down the hallway is silent. I lean on the railings once we reach the hallway that overlooks the cafeteria, and Carl does the same.

"Everyone gets points," I say. "You can use them to buy things like food, clothes, or personal items. You get points by doing work around here. That's how we limit supplies." I look behind me to make sure no one is around to hear what I whisper to Carl next. "Look, I don't like how we get all of the supplies and food, but I can't control it. I've hinted at this before but my dad gets angry and tells me I should be grateful, so I haven't brought it up again." I lead Carl down the steps into the cafeteria. "You hungry? I can get you something- I have a ton of points. Perks of being the leader's daughter, I guess. It's not really fair, but I try to help people out who don't have a lot of points."

"I'm fine, thanks," Carl says. I shrug, but buy him an apple anyway. "You know, you're not too bad," Carl adds, then takes a bite of his apple.

"Thanks?" I laugh.

"I mean, I thought you were going to be like Negan- intimidating, murder-ish, angry- but you're not. You're genuine. I like that. No offense towards your dad."

"You're not so bad either Carl. I was expecting you to be cruel, but you seem like you have good intentions for your group. Although, I don't think I would have forgiven you if you killed my dad." We both laugh as we continue down another hallway.

After about 45 minutes of just talking and touring, Carl says, "We get along pretty well for enemies."

I look at him and smile slightly, then roll my eyes. "Carl, we're not enemies anymore."

I don't know why but I really like this one. I'm excited to keep writing it. I don't know if it will be two or three parts yet though. Requests are open!
