We were almost two weeks into February and the sun had officially said its last goodbyes. I woke up yet another day to a gray sky and hurried to the big window to shut the curtains. You would probably think that being born and raised in England, I would be used to the constant lack of sun but no, that wasn’t me. I usually just avoided looking at the sky when it was like this. As long as I didn’t see the clouds, it could be sunny in my mind.

I rotated my head when I heard Vicky’s small groan. She was still in bed but she was starting to remove the blanket from over her head revealing her new black hair with dark blue tips. I swear that girl changed hair colour as often as she changed clothes. A few seconds later, she finally opened her bright green eyes and said:

“God! Why do we have classes on valentine’s day?”

Valentine’s day? I quickly grabbed my phone from my nightstand to see that she was right. Today was Valentine’s Day!  Oh god! I really wasn’t in the mood for this. However, I didn’t want to ruin Vicky’s vibe so I decided to appear interested and said

“Good morning to you too Vicky...So do you have plans with Tanya?”

Tanya was Vicky’s two year girlfriend. She was a short blonde who looked more like an angel than a human being. Vicky and she were complete opposites. Tanya was always dressed in cute dresses and her hair and makeup were always done to perfection. She was always quiet and very shy, almost never lifting her blue eyes from the ground. However, and no matter how odd that may sound, Vicky and her were the perfect match. Whenever they were together you could almost see the sparks flying between them. Their chemistry was undeniable and it even made me wish for a love like theirs and since I never wish for anything not related to my dance career that was a hard thing to do.

Vicky didn’t have time to answer me as a knocking sound erupted in the room. Still in my blue flannel pyjamas, I slowly made my way to the door and opened it. Not to my surprise, it was Evan dressed in his usual white T-shirt and black pyjama bottoms.

After we joined forces to help Julia and Brad, Evan and I had grown quite close and I could almost say we became friends (Almost).

So since that one time Vicky and I forgot to wake up and missed our classes causing me to spend the whole day pissed and yelling at everybody, Evan had made it a habit to pay us an early morning visit to make sure we were awake. I couldn’t avoid the fact that he was still making me nervous but I was feeling more and more comfortable in his presence and I enjoyed our time together.

“Good morning sweetheart!” He said in his usual joyous tone as he pulled out a red rose from behind his back and handed it to me.

“Happy Valentine’s day!” He added before he walked past me inside the room while I stayed there grinning like an idiot. It wasn’t anything unusual since every time we walked past the big campus garden he pulled out a flower and handed it to me but I couldn’t help but feel both embarrassed and happy every time he did it and today wasn’t an exception.

A few seconds later, I finally turned around to see that Evan had crouched on Vicky’s bed, his head leaning on the wall behind him as he laughed and tried to wake her up. Vicky and Evan also became quite close over the past month and I was the one suffering the consequences. Those two should never be allowed in public places together.
