PROLOGUE ; YOU ARE A MELODY

✯ ✯ ✯

The wind was blowing softly, in contrast to a certain peach haired girl's feelings. Her long hair flew slightly behind her back, swaying side to side as if trying to calm her raging heart. With clenched fists and a tear stained face, Matsui Yua looked up harshly at the sky as she stood almost under the shade of the sakura tree which was already almost in full bloom.

"Kami-sama, why does it have to happen to me? Did I do something wrong in my past life?" Yua screamed, knowing that there were no passers by during that hour.

The sky was so dark, as if telling her that there was no hope left for her. Still wearing her school uniform from one of the most prestigious idol schools in Japan, one of her brown loafers lost somewhere, Matsui Yua wanted to run away.

Why was she so upset? Why did she want to run away? Most importantly, why isn't she at home at such a late hour?

Those questions were probably what people would think once they saw the peach haired girl.

Yua, in all the years of life, had always loved music. Even at such a young age, she loved singing and dancing in front of an audience. It was safe to say that it was her passion, performing. In fact, people would call her a prodigy, after finding out that she doesn't only sing and dance, the girl can also play instruments, compose and produce her own songs despite being young.

What went wrong, then?

Yua clenched her fists once again, holding on to the railing of the bridge by the sakura tree, wanting to just jump off. Before she could even do it, the girl heard an unfamiliar voice speak to her as if Kami-sama has sent an angel to guide her.

"Hey, what are you doing? Don't do that," the unfamiliar boy said, his words swimming in her ears like a soft and gentle wave so comforting.

Right at the same time, she saw a single twinkle of a star that was once hidden behind a dark cloud of the night sky. Her brows furrowing, Yua slowly looked behind her to see a slightly tan male with short dark hair who seemed to be about her age.

The boy had his hands shoved inside the pockets of his hoodie, and his legs were clad in grey sweatpants. His brows were furrowed like hers, his stare as if telling her that there was still hope left for her.

"Excuse me?" Yua softly asked, blinking at the boy.

"I saw you were upset. You were about to jump off that bridge, weren't you? You know, that can't solve what you're going through right now," he replied, his eyes being laced with worry.

"I-I... I've lost everything. There's nothing more for me left," she answered, her voice cracking at the end as she wiped the stream of tears that started to flow from her soft pink eyes again.
