DAKOTA
I sulked as I wandered down the carriages, trying to find people that looked nice enough to sit with. Unfortunately for me, the carriages were all full of both people and laughter, leaving me to walk to the empty back carriage. The only fortunate thing about this situation was the fact I'd remembered to bring my favourite muggle book with me, All The Bright Places. If you asked me I'd never admit it, but I was a sucker for romance. Even though, more often than not, it ended in tragedy.

I thanked my past self for choosing to wear leggings and a jumper as I made myself as comfortable as possible in the empty carriage. I was nearly dozing off when the carriage door slid open and a tall girl poked her head through the crack.

"I hate to be a pain but do you mind if I sit? Everywhere else is full," she smiled shyly. The sunlight was gleaming in through the windows of the train and made her dark skin sparkle.

"Of course, I don't own it," I joked to try and make her feel more comfortable. She sat down, still obviously feeling shy and noticed the book still in my hand.

"Oh!" She lit up. "I love that book! Isn't Theodore Finch dreamy," she giggled.

I laughed at her statement as we began conversing about Hogwarts and how she'd never seen me around before.

"Yeah, I attended a muggle school up until now. I'm in third year, I think." She cocked an eyebrow and thought for a second.

"Oh gosh! Does that mean you have to get sorted? I hope you're a Hufflepuff with me! That would be so good!" She cheesed, her brown eyes glinting with excitement. I'd heard that Hufflepuffs were usually the kindest ones and so I would be more than happy to join that house. "Ooh!" She exclaimed, making me jump. "I haven't even told you my name, christ. I'm Morgana Voss!"

"I didn't even realise! I'm Dakota Jednay," I smiled. "So what subjects are there at Hogwarts? Sorry, I'm new to the whole wizard thing," I laughed.

"Okay so, theres Charms, Potions, Care for Magical Creatures- which is my personal favourite- Defense against the Dark Arts, Herbology-"

"Wow, okay. I think I get the picture," I laughed. "They all sound much better than Mathematics and English."

Suddenly, with no warning, the train stopped abruptly. The puzzled look on Morgana's face told me that this was not an ordinary or planned stop, and my stomach began to churn with paranoia. I went to say something, but my breath came out as a cloud in the cold. My fingers, toes and nose turned to ice as the windows froze up, both outside and inside. The locks on the carriage doors locked themselves, signalling to me that something was very wrong.

I heard screams from the carriages further up along the train but for some reason any noise that wanted to come out of my mouth was stuck in my throat. This cold sensation was familiar to me but I couldn't pinpoint where from.

Just as soon as the cold came it left without a trace and the train started moving again as if nothing ever happened. Morgana shuddered and tried to shake off what had just occurred and started talking about Hogwarts again.

"I'm so glad you're a third year! I would've felt awful for you if you were a second or fourth year and had just missed out on him," she laughed.

"Him? Who's him?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You don't know? Draco Malfoy. He's only the hottest and most sought after boy at Hogwarts," she said matter-of-factly. At this I rolled my eyes. Looks to me like the wizarding world is similar to the muggle world in a lot more ways than I thought.

"Well don't worry, you won't have to fret about another girl to fend off from him. I've got no interest in boys yet," I replied.

"We'll see if that's still true when you see him. He's so dreamy."

"I thought that was Theodore Finch?" I winked. I was now more relaxed about moving schools. If there were at least 3 more Morgana's around I'd be okay. I'd managed to make friends with her quite easily, so I was praying every other wizard and witch would be that nice too. If only, I laughed at myself in my head.

The rest of the train journey was spent exchanging stories with Morgana and looking out the window at the beautiful scenes that the train travelled through.

Soon enough, we pulled up at the school. We were greeted by a very large, very stocky bearded man with a very kind face.

"Follow me to the boats everyone," he beamed down at us. "Oh, a new face! Hello there!" Heat rushed to my cheeks as everyone turned to look at the new person. Me.

"Hello," I waved awkwardly, my cheeks probably as red as a rose. I looked at my shoes to avoid making eye contact with anyone but I could feel a particular pair of eyes burning holes into me. Glancing up, I saw a bleach blond haired boy nudging his friend and chuckling to himself as he stared at me. He shot me an obnoxious wink as I heard Morgana next to me.

"I wish he'd look at me like that," she huffed. I turned to her and laughed.

"I'm assuming that's him?" I turned back to size him up. Oh. That's definitely him. He was still looking me up and down and I shifted uncomfortably under his stare. Remembering what I learnt growing up in the muggle world, and determined not to be another girl that falls at his feet, I rolled my eyes and turned away dramatically. With my back to him, I heard his friend laughing at his failed attempt of flirting with the new girl. I smirked at this.
