Sophie's Pov
He says he's going to die. I can't even picture that. A world without Keefe? That just couldn't be! I care too much about him. Oh, what am I saying? I'm probably just exhausted from healing Keefe. That's probably it.
Keefe's Pov
My friends left around 20 minutes after the... incident. Incidents seem to come up so often whenever one of us gets into trouble. I sometimes wish that everything could go back to normal. But then I wouldn't have met Sophie Foster. And... I guess I could never regret that. So all of that just went out the window.
Anyway, after they left, Livvy was still panicking her head off.
"Livvyyyyyyy!! I'm fine now! It's just a little headache!" I complained.
Livvy was still bustling around, grabbing loads of elixirs off the shelves in the room. "No! Plus, your mind just broke! And even worse, you're still coughing up the damn flower petals!"
"What?" My mind raced through the events that had happened. "What do you mean 'still' coughing up flower petals?"
A look of uncertainty was exchanged between Livvy and Mr. Forkle. "We thought that when Sophie healed you, it could somehow miraculously heal your other symptoms as well." Mr. Forkle took a deep breath before continuing. "We thought that what she told you would make the disease go away."
I looked down at my hands, now stained with blood and flower petals. "I guess it didn't work."
Livvy bit her lip and glanced at me with an apologetic look. "Could you tell us what she said?"
"I'd rather not." Quickly, before anyone could say anything, I added, "She just told me that what happened wasn't my fault. Just like every other healing." I shrugged.
"We'll see." Mr. Forkle then walked out of the room, claiming he had Foxfire business to attend to.

I was lying awake in my bed. Livvy had insisted that I stay in the infirmary for at least another day. But the beds are very uncomfortable. Well, for elvin standards. I was thinking about my mess of a life. Daddy issues, evil mom, broken heart, hanahaki... the list was longer than I would have liked. One thing this hospital wing brought me was a room of solitude, a place where I could reflect. A place where my life was in my hand- Ok. I'm kidding. But something did disturb my peace.
A soft shuffle came from the door. Followed by an all too familiar voice.
"He should be here. Hurry up. His legacy must be fulfilled."
Can you guess who it was?
With a quiet swoosh, the door swung open on its hinges, revealing 2 dark silhouettes. They removed their hoods to reveal Vespera and the one and only, Mommy Dearest.
I stilled in my bed, trying to pull off the fact that I was sleeping. Shrinking into the covers, I waited with baited breath as I listened to my mother's footsteps on the floorboards. My voice was in my throat. I wanted to call out to tell everyone that creepy Neverseen terrorists were here, but I didn't. Because this was my problem. Plus, I could deal with my mother by myself.
"Keefe, honey, I know you're awake." Dang, her voice is so sickeningly sweet. Makes me want to vomit.
Huffing, I shrugged the covers off. "Whatever it is you want, Mommy Dearest, go away." With my eyes no longer covered, I could see my mom, her eyes shining in the moonlight, her stare dripping with venom.
"True, I knew you wouldn't want to cooperate. Right to the point then." She made a point of making herself comfortable, as if she was about to tell me a bedtime story instead of a list of threats.
Grumbling, I sat up in my bed. I didn't really want to listen, but I thought it might be useful for the Black Swan. "Just get it done already, Mommy Dearest," I spat.
Sighing, my mom started talking. "It's really very simple. All you have to do is come with us."
At that, I couldn't help but laugh. "That's what you said about 99% of the time. You really think I'm gonna listen to you?" Still trying to suppress my laughter, I ended up coughing a number of times, showering my very disgruntled mother with bloody rose petals. That was very entertaining.
Judging by the look on my mom's face, she definitely wasn't expecting that. Brushing herself off, she continued talking. "You will be coming with us. It's not an option. Unless..." She trailed off, a hint of malice in her tone and eyes.
'She really does sound like a villain, huh?' I thought. Turning my attention back to my mom, I asked, "Unless what?"
She cackled. Great. She really does sound scary. Just like the witch she is. "Unless you want the moonlark to get taken instead."
The moonlark... Sophie. She wouldn't dare, would she? "Why do you want Sophie?" I asked, fear lumping in my throat.
Shooting me a death glare, my mom answered, "Why, it is your legacy to finish that pesky moonlark, no?"
"I told you it's not my legacy! Don't drag me into your doomsday plans!" I shouted. Which was a bad idea. My voice echoed across the still halls of Alluveterre, and soon, I heard someone running to the door of the infirmary.
"Now look what you've done!" My mom shouted.
"It would never have happened if you didn't decide to sneak in and demand your son to follow some crazy legacy!" I fired back.
Mommy Dearest, being the wonderful parent she is, turned to Vespera, who had been chilling in the corner while we had our wonderful conversation. "Tie him up. We're going. NOW."
I quickly put my hands up in defense. "Don't you dar-"
Not even letting me finish, Vespera tied me, restricting my limbs from moving. Then, she quickly pulled out a leaping crystal, just as Livvy opened the door, her mardi gras mask covering her face.
The last thing I shouted at her was, "Don't come after me!", before Mommy Dearest, Vespera, and I were enveloped in light, pulling us away.
