Chapter 6
Liv's POV
"Hey, are you okay?" Finn's soft voice was like a ray of sunlight brightening my gloomy day.
I immediately felt my heart soar at his touch; his gentle fingers caressing the space between my shoulder blades.
What the hell? What was I thinking?
I don't dare move in case he thinks that I encourage his touch.
Which I don't.
Maybe.
Then I remember that he's waiting for my reply to his question.
Ugh. Whenever I was around him, my brain turned to mush.
His touch was enough to divert all my attention onto him and send all my thoughts haywire.
I nod quickly and without uttering a word, I take off, his warm touch leaving a delicious phantom feeling on my back.
So much for avoiding him.
I wasn't even supposed to be there. I knew for a fact that Crawford always arrived later than I did. I would've escaped him if it wasn't for Nikki and her minions. It had been pure chance that we had even met in the first place.
Chance, I scoffed. More like karma being a bitch.
What I didn't understand was the fact that I had gone through 5 years of never seeing Crawford face-to-face, yet after last night, he seemed to be in every hallway I crossed.
As I reached my bright red locker, I breathed a sigh of relief.
He hadn't recognised me.
Despite my obvious relief, I couldn't help but feel a small stab of disappointment.
Well of course he wouldn't have recognised me. I was a nobody. He probably doesn't even remember our encounter either. He had been pissed drunk for goodness sake.
As I opened my locker, retrieving my books for the day, I heard footsteps behind me. It was probably Aaron.
Aaron Newman owned the locker next to mine and was the closest person I had to a friend at Bridgewater High. His lively green eyes and messy dark curls were always a welcome sight.
Plus, him being a maths genius didn't hurt either. He had even tutored me for a while (and it really helped) but had to stop once his advanced maths class workload got too much for him.
Even after that, we still remained pretty close, exchanging greetings in the hallway and texting late into the night when we were both feeling bored.
I turned around after shutting my locker, studying my new timetable for the semester.
"Hi Aaron," I acknowledge, my eyes not lifting from the scrap of pink paper.
"It's you," a voice much deeper than Aaron's replied.
I looked up and immediately wish I hadn't.
It's him.

Finn's POV
I could feel myself smiling like an idiot as her dazzling blue eyes stare up at me in horror.
"It's you," I repeat, just to make things seem more real.
"And it's you. The arrogant pervert who won't leave me alone," she hisses, rage rising in her melodic voice.
