Meta Knight x Reader One-Shots

Messenger Bird

"Hey! Open up! Ya got a letter from your knight in shining armor!"

You heard a shrill voice call from the window, accompanied by a furious pecking against the glass. You dropped what you were doing and rushed over to see the familiar face of a little yellow bird.

"Oh, hey Tokkori," you spoke as you swung your window open.

"Yeah yeah, I know what you really want," the bird retorts, pushing the envelope at his feet towards you with his beak.

The envelope in question was a single piece of parchment, folded over itself and closed with a wax seal. The wax was a midnight blue, and pressed into it was Meta Knight's signature 'M.' His stationary always felt like they came right out of a fairytale.

"No, I'm not just excited for the letter. It's good to see you, too," you answered, and opened the window a bit further. "You're welcome to come inside."

"So I can wait for you to write your response and bring it back to Meta Knight?"

You blushed, knowing that was at least one reason you invited him in.

"It's alright, Kirby's at the castle anyways. I have to swing by to make sure the kid gets home," Tokkori continued.

You breathed a sigh of relief and gave him a thanks. He hopped inside and flew to a spot to perch as you opened the letter.

The message was written in a lovely, flowing script. It was neat and proper, just as Meta Knight usually presented himself. But the actual content had a different tone to it.

My dearest, (Y/n),

You would not believe the kind of crap the king has been trying to pull. At this point it feels like he has been ordering a new monster every other day. Some of them are not even related to his attempts to get Kirby. It is no wonder he is so in debt to Nightmare Enterprises.

Speaking of Kirby, training is going well with him. Though he is young, he has so much potential. He is a fast learner, especially with his copy ability. He still needs guidance, but in time I expect he will become an exceptional warrior. When you are next able to come to the castle, or when I am next able to come to you, I can tell you more about that.

For now, I would like to discuss plans with you. It has been awhile since we have been able to be alone together for more than a few minutes. I am aware we are keeping this secret for the most part, Tokkori being the exception, but I find it hard to keep my thoughts from drifting to you. Sword and Blade grew suspicious when I got distracted during our watch. They said I was staring into space with my eyes a glowing purple, and when they asked about it, I grew flustered. I told them about us, and they congratulated me. I know you have always gotten along with them, and I apologize that I was not able to ask if I was alright sharing this with them.

I suspect that Sir Ebrum and Lady Like are aware as well, though we have not told them. Tiff commented I seemed distracted the other day, and indeed, I was thinking of you. I was quieter than usual the rest of the day. I fear we may not be able to keep our relationship, "On the down low," as you have called it. Though I have appearances to keep up, I admit I would not care as much about them if it meant I could be with you. I wanted to ask you if you would be alright with sharing this information before we announced it to everyone.

For someone as stoic as seemingly cold as Meta Knight, he had a way with words that surprised you the first time you read his letters. You were more used to it at this point, but this letter still found your face covered in a deep blush. You had realized Meta Knight was much better, and much more comfortable, expressing affection through writing. He was similarly affectionate when you were alone.
