THE GUILT BENEATH THE PAIN

Chapter 6

MADISON'S P.O.V.

Monday came pretty faster than I had imagined.I was currently standing in front of the full length dressing mirror accessing myself.Today I had surprisingly woken up at 5:30am after having another panic attack.My clothes were soaked in sweat.Every time I think back to that day,I get a strong feeling that eyes are watching my every move.When I recall the things that took place that tragetic day,the only thing that pops in my head are unanswered questions which I sometimes wonder whether or if I will ever find the answer to each of those questions swimming in my head constantly.Since I couldn't go back to sleep,I decided to utilize my time by taking a warm and relaxing bath to calm my nerves and ease my mind.Currently it's 6:45am,I had on a black fitting almost knee length dress which I had paired with a pair of white Nike air force. I then proceeded to skip down the stairs after I had grabbed my book bag,purse and phone.Before I left my bedroom, I made sure that the necklace my parent gave to me before they died was secured firmly around my neck. The necklace was made up of a thin silver string with tiny traces of diamond in it;it had a chip made out of gold hooked on its string. I always kept the necklace hidden in my clothes since my parents gave me some instructions to follow.
Flashback
"Addy",my dad called out my name in a weak voice that almost sounded like a whisper."Take this. Always keep it on you and never show or give it to anyone. I trust that you can follow these words I just told you",my dad said in that weak voice again which made me breakdown."What is this dad?", I asked in confusion unabled to digest what was happening."I can't explain now but some day you would understand how important this chip is",he stated in pain."But Dad I need.....wait dad are you with me?dad you can't leave me too. DAD!!",I shout and cried after I saw his body go limp and motionless. The only thing I could hear around me were the sound of the police sirens drawing closer to our car.The last thing I saw were the policemen pulling me out of the car after I had secured the mysterious necklace around my neck while asking me if I was okay. I hadn't even had a chance to answer before I blacked out.
Flashback Ended
When I got down stairs, I met up with Scar who was already by the dinning table.She was wearing a light pink skirt,top and nude coloured low cut sneakers.I made Scar put my hair into two French braids while she left hers loose.Aunt Skylar and Santiago came to join us as the maids placed the various varieties of food on the dining table.The foods consisted of French toast,bacon,fried eggs,waffle and pancakes, the were pitchers of apple and orange juice by the food.I then saw a brown haired boy
with tanned skin come to join us at the dining table.He was about 6'2 tall,he had this strange mysterious vibe surrounding him.But to put it short, he was surprisingly good looking.He wore a black T-shirt,black jeans and a black leather jacket but he also had a red and black flannel wrapped around his waist. It seemed like I had seen him somewhere but I just can't figure out or pin point exactly where I remember seeing him.Then it clicked in my head, he must have been the one I saw in one of those family portraits hanged on the hallway and corridors I saw while Scar gave me a tour of the house.Though in the picture he didn't look much older than 10 with a bright blinding smile across his face.But currently the person I see here is a whole different being with a dangerous aura surrounding him."Madison this is your second cousin Ryder,he is Scarlet's twin brother",Aunt Skylar said.I don't recall seeing him or meeting him face to face since I came to this mansion.After the brief intoduction we al began to dig into our breakfast. But I couldn't help but wonder why I haven't seen him since I came to this mansion and why no one said anything about him till now. After we were all done with breakfast, Scar, Ryder and I headed towards the main door.Suddenly Santiago called out my name making me return back to the dining room.He then handed a car key to me, I felt my face scrunch up in confusion and utter disbelive when it downed on me that they were giving me a car."Here are the keys to your new car", Santiago said as if it were no big deal. I was still too stunned to form any meaningful sentence."You Aunt and I thought that you having your own car would be very continent for you in regards to transportation that is why we got you a car",he said again. "Oh no, you didn't have to", I said while shaking my head." I could have just joined a bus or caught a ride from Scarlet. You didn't have to go through the trouble of getting me a car although I appreciate it. You guys are already doing enough for me by letting me stay with you",I continued."Oh don't be silly, we want you to feel safe and comfortable that is why we got you the car;besides it is no big deal",Aunt Skylar said with a warm smile.I then thought of it. Somehow they were right, you would never know when a bus will fail and it is not and then also it is not every time that I could catch a ride from Scar."You just see this as a welcome gift from us to you that way it would seem more appropriate right?",Aunt Skylar pipped in. I then decided to accept it."Thank you very much",I said and hugged them both with a huge smile plastered on my face."Dear, you have to get going or you might end up late on your first day",Aunt Skylar scolded playfully with a huge smile on her face which I also returned. I then excitedly ran out of the house to be met with a silvery ash coloured Range Rover. "We hope you like it",Santiago said."Are you kidding? I love it",I said with a grin on my face. This is probably the happiest I have ever been since my parents passed away."Mum we are running late, Madison also needs to grab her schedule.",Scar shouted from her car."Okay you both have a nice day",Aunt Skylar said. I think that Ryder had already left for school since I didn't see a third car parked in the drive way.Scar and I hopped into our cars and drove of. I was behind her car following her since I do not know where exactly the school was and to top it up I didn't know where the roads led to. After approximately  30 minutes we arrived at the school.
