Chapter 3-Cold Breath and Arms

Bella's POV

Angela drove me to the hospital and left me there alone as I told her to. I knew there was nothing wrong with me, but what I didn't know was why Emmett managed to crush Tyler's van so hard. It was all like super-human strength. I sat on a hospital bed, waiting to see a doctor. Then a man dressed in a blue shirt tucked into his black trousers and a blue tie, followed by a white coat had walked in. "Isabella." He said as he walked up to me. "Bella." I said. "Well Bella, it looks like you took quite a spill, how do you feel?" He asked me. "Good." I said. "Look here." He said, holding a small torch in my eyes as they followed the light. "You might experience some post-traumatic stress but you seem good. No signs of head trauma, I think you'll be just fine." He said, explaining. "You know it woud have been a whole lot worse if Emmett wasn't there, he knocked me out of the way." I said. "Emmett?" He asked in shock. "Yeah, I mean he got to me so fast. He was no-where near me." I replied. "It sounds like you were very lucky." He said smiling as he walked out of the room. I followed him out, only to be looking past the corner of the wall to see Emmett, the doctor and a girl talking. "There were fifteen thousand kids who saw what happened." The girl said. "This isn't about you, this is about all of us." She added. "I think we should take this in my office." The doctor said. Then Emmett saw me and I had to talk to him. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked. "Rosalie, he'll be fine." The doctor said, walking down the hall with Rosalie. Emmett walked down to me and I turned to face him.

"What is it?" He asked. "How...how did you get over to me so fast?" I asked. "I was standing right next to you Bella." He said, lying. "No, you were next to your car, across the lot." I said. "No I wasn't." He said, smiling suspiciously. "Yes you were Emmett." I said, pulling a face at him. "Bella, you hit your head, I think you're confused." Emmett said. "I didn't hit anything. I only felt your cold breath and your arms around me." I said. "Are you saying I came onto you?" He asked in shock. "No, I'm not saying that. I just wanna know the truth." I said, almost begging. "And you can't know the truth. No humans can know anything about me and my family Bella, you're gonna have to accept that." He said. "I'm gonna find out sooner or later Emmett, I won't give up." I said. "Cos I know for one fact that you and your family aren't human." I added.

"I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow maybe or Monday." He said, as he walked away. I knew Emmett was hiding something. I had to find out more about him. All I know is that he has pale skin, his eyes change colour, he has cold breath and strong arms. I didn't believe a word he said to me, I knew he was lying. I walked out of the hospital, got into my truck and drove home.

Emmett's POV

I couldn't tell Bella about me and my family. But I'm so in love with her, I can't hurt her. Rose is mad right now about what happened in the parking lot. But that's her loss. Then I heard Alice gasp. "What did you see Alice?" Jasper asked, holding her hand. "It's that girl Emmett saved." She said. "Her name's Bella, what was she doing Alice?" I asked. "She wants to know what we are and she's not going to give up until she finds out or if you tell her Emmett." Alice said. "That's because she is always nosey." Rose said. "Rose, just stop!" I shouted. "What's she doing right now Alice?" I asked again. "She's on the internet searching for facts about us." Alice replied. "Alice, can you find out what will happen in the future with me and Bella?" I asked again. Alice tried to look into the future, then she gasped again. "What?" Jasper asked. "Bella will find out what we are, you're going to feel her pulse and kiss her." Alice said.

Alice's POV

*Vision*

Emmett and Bella were in a meadow, Bella was shaking with fear while Emmett was feeling her pulse. "You don't know how long I've waited for you Bella." He said. Bella's breath was trembling and I could see she wanted to kiss Emmett.

*End of vision*

*Another vision*

"I like watching you sleep, you look beautiful when you do." Emmett said, smiling at Bella. "According to my mom I sleep like a baby." Bella said. Emmett let out a silent laugh. "She's right about that." He said. "There's something I wanted to try Bella, but you have to stay very still." He said, warning her. He moved closer to her, looking into her chocolate brown eyes. Bella moved a little as she knew what he was going to do. "Don't move." He said as he stopped growing closer to her, but started moving again. Bella didn't move at all, she watched as Emmett got closer to her. He finally pressed his lips against hers very softly. Bella had a little shake as she could feel Emmett's frozen lips. She kissed him again and took it even further.

Bella's POV

I decided while it was still sunny at 4 in the afternoon, it was time to go and see an old friend from my past. I got into my truck and drove down the road.

A few minutes later, I arrived at Jacob's house. I got out of my truck and walked to the front door and knocked on it. A man in a wheelchair answered me. "Bella?" He asked in shock. "Is it really you?" He asked again. "Course it's me Billy, nice to see you." I said as I leant down to hug him. "Come on in, Jacob's been wanting to see you." Billy said as he reversed backwards in his wheelchair to let me in. I walked in and shut the door behind me, I went into Jacob's room to find him working out. "Jacob?" I asked. He stood up and ran up to me to hug me. "Bella!" He said, laughing. "When did you arrive?" He asked. "This morning at 3 am." I replied. "How are you?" He asked. "I'm fine, you?" I asked as I replied to his question. "I'm good, just working out." Jacob said. "It's been so long."

An hour later, I was still at Jacob's house, fixing his motorcycles with him. We talked and talked about memories from the past. But I couldn't tell him about Emmett in case he freaked out or something. I don't think they know each other but Jacob always panicks when he hears I have been in an accident or if I was upset about anything. "Well, I guess, I'd better go now." I said, standing up. "Okay, well it's been really good seeing you again Bella." Jacob said. "We should hang out this weekend, what do you wanna do?" He asked. "Um, I'm not really sure, I might be busy but I'll call you if I wanna come out." I replied. "Thanks for helping me fix my motorcycles Bella." Jacob said. "Yeah, no problem." I said. "I'll see you around." I walked out of the garage of Jacob's house and round from the back yard to the front where my truck was. I got into my truck and started the engine to drive off.

Later that night, I was on my laptop searching for facts about pale skin, eyes changing colour to get to the point about Emmett's strength and coldness. Then I heard the telephone ring downstairs. I shut my laptop to run downstairs to answer the phone. "Hello?" I asked. "Bella, you were supposed to call me when you arrived safe." A voice said. My mom was on the phone, sounding panicky. "Calm down Mom, I was gonna call you this morning, but I wanted to go to school and I was tired when I got in last night." I replied. "Well, how are you?" Mom asked. "I'm fine, a little tired." I said. "Okay, well call me again later okay?" She asked. "Yeah, sure." I said. "I love you." I hung up the phone and sat on the sofa to turn on the TV.

The news was on. "Good evening this is Tina Riley live from LA. We have found over 100 dead bodies in a lake at 6 am this morning. People are saying there could be a wild animal creating crimes by murdering people to their death..." The news reporter said as she went on. A wild animal? How could a wild animal possibly kill hundreds of people. This doesn't sound like a wild animal, more like something else, but dangerous. I went into the kitchen to get a drink when I heard a knock on the back door. I gulped down some orange juice and unlocked my back door to answer to whoever was knocking. "Bella." A voice said. It was Mike with Angela and Jessica at the back of him. "Hey guys." I said. "You wanna come out tonight for a little while?" Mike asked. "Um, I'm kind of tired." I said. "Come on Bella, let us take you out for your first and best night ever." Jessica said. I thought about it and grabbed my coat. I ran to my front door to lock it and grabbed the back door keys, walked out of the house and locked the back door behind me.
