"Minami!" Sonoda Umi was fuming. The other students gulped as they got out of the student council president's way, afraid that they will also be involved in the president's wrath. However, the person who was the reason why the usually calm president lost their composure remained unfazed by the storm coming towards her.
"Umi-chan, what do you need?" Kotori asked, smiling way too innocently. Umi gritted her teeth in annoyance, the nerve of this woman to play dumb right in front of her face.
"Don't you Umi-chan me. You know what I came here for Minami." Umi snapped, her amber eyes glaring intensely at the ash-blonde while the latter just smiled at her.
To be honest, this everyday life of scolding at Kotori was something Umi never imagined, like ever. The ash-blonde, as Umi always knew from childhood, was a sweet girl who always had a fluffy aura around her. Umi didn't know what happened but during the summer break between the last year of middle school and first year of highschool, the sweet girl Umi knew was gone, disappeared without a word.
The fluffy aura around her changed to something more mischievous, the way she dressed herself changed from modest to bordering shamelessness, and she leapt from being a stickler for rules to a rule-breaker.
Minami Kotori became a delinguent and Umi didn't liked it one bit, but one can she do? She was the type of person to support her friend's decisions, even though she would oppose it sometimes, in the end she would always support them. She tried asking her friend why did she change but to her disappointment, Kotori only replied to her with a smile.
And so, Sonoda Umi distanced herself not just from Kotori but to her to her friends as well. She focused on studying, on archery practice, anything but involving herself with Kotori. And so, two years had passed, Umi became the student council president and it became her job to look after Kotori, to look after the delinquent to make sure she would graduate highschool because deep down, Umi still cares for Kotori even though her sense of responsibility and the girl's ideals clashed together.
"Are you perhaps here to confess to me?" Kotori answered sweetly, causing Umi to grit her teeth more.
"Oooh, nice one Kotori-chan!" Honoka shouted at the back of the room.
"Shut your trap, Kousaka." Umi glared at the ginger-haired girl who immediately retreated after receiving Umi's glare.
"No Minami," Umi grabbed a fistful of Kotori's collar, pulling her face closer, "I am here to give you this detention slip for the vandalism you did earlier this morning in the cafeteria."
"Oh that."
"Yes. That," Umi let go of Kotori's collar as she adjusted her own, "now if you'll excuse me, I still have matters to attend to."
Kotori's smile slowly faded as she watched Umi's retreating back. With a groan, she face-planted on her desk, "Umi-chan, what's taking you so long?"
*****
The final bell rang, much to Kotori's relief, and the teacher had no time to dismiss the class as the students began to pile out of the room. The teacher can only sigh in defeat as he left the room, not bothering to call for the other students.
"You wanna go to the karaoke todayKotori-chan?" Honoka approached her to which Kotori answered with a shake of her head.
"Detention remember?"
