"I called it! Pay me up, Squints."
"I ain't giving you shit."
"Wait, you guys bet on us?"

Jordan and Benny broke it to the sandlot that they were now a thing.

None of the boys objected in any way, because all of them knew it was practically inevitable.

"Hell yeah, we did. Took us almost half the summer, but thank god it paid off," DeNunez joked.

As Benny rolled his eyes, Jordan smirked to ask, "Who won?"

It was easy to say, Yeah-Yeah and DeNunez were seeming to be the badasses of the town, bragging about how Squints and Bertram owe them money that they didn't have.

Finally, getting a baseball from Vincent's Drugstore, the team went straight to the sandlot to play some ball.

"A couple of days after we all got over, acting like big shots, we swore off the hard stuff forever and just stuck to Bazooka. But the day we all got back together for some baseball... was the day I got us into the biggest pickle of all time, and it all started with an omen."

Benny was batting, while Jordan pitched, and everyone was in their positions.

The blonde girl threw Benny her heater, which he managed to hit, hard, even making some sort of popping sound as it was in the air.

Everyone looked up to see the literal skin of the ball fall down, as the core of it landed in Small's glove.

"Ah, shit," The girl comments, giving an amaze chuckle, as everyone stared at the ball in shock, walking over and huddling over the skin shell of the baseball.

"Bitchin'," Jordan mutters.

"Nah, it's ain't," Benny groans, shaking his head in disappointment.

"Come on. Maybe two or three guys in history... ever busted the guts out of a ball," informs Squints, "Must be an omen."

"All's it means is that we can't play no more. It's only 12 o'clock, and I just ruined the whole day for us."

"No, you didn't. That's the most amazing thing I ever saw," Their star pitcher declared, having everyone else agree with him.

"Anybody not broke and got money?" Jordan asked the team.

"No," They all say, in sync.

"Then it's ain't okay, 'cause now we can't play no more," Benny explains.
