The night was cold and calm, the stars shined bright. I gazed at them longing to know what secrets they may hold. A gust of cool wind hit me from behind, I keep my eyes fixed on the stars that sat in the sky above the trees. My mother always tells me that I am going to get stuck looking upward. But I cannot help myself I long to know the secrets of the universe. I want to know why I exist.

"AHHHHHHH!"

A scream pulled me from gazing, the voice was one that I knew well it was the voice of my mother. The terror I could hear in the scream was new and unfamiliar. I started running in the direction of her screams that continued to ring out. I moved fasted; the trees blurred in my vision as I pasted. I would shift but the by the time I finished something bad will have happened. It felt like I was running for ever by the time I reached the area I heard my mother voice. Then I saw it, a beautiful white stallion laying on the ground. Her horn was broken, and a single tear was running down her face. A flaming bird a phoenix was hovering above her, Destruction, our friend. After a moment, he shifted back into his human form, he was tall with flaming red hair and emerald green eyes.

"MOTHER!" I screamed after the shock of what I was seeing past. I ran to her falling to her side. I put her head in my lap and started stroking her mane.

"Serenity. So good of you to show up. Saves me the trouble of hunting you down." Destruction said with an icy calm that shock me to my core.

"You monster... you killed her!" I said between the tears that I could not stop from falling.

"Oh, come now, no need to cry." Destruction said while kneeling next to me putting a hand on my shoulder. I shook him off which only seem to amuse him, he stayed bent down next me.

"Why...?" I managed to gasp out between my full-blown sobs.

"Because she wouldn't love me." He replied looking at me intensely. After a moment, his face twisted into a creepy smile. "You know you look just like your mother."

"What?!" I said finally bring my eyes to meet his. He reached his hand towards my face, then he began to stroke my cheek. I was so shocked I did not react when he pulled me to him planting a kiss on my mouth. Once I realized what was happening, I pulled my head back, careful not to drop my mom's head off my lap.

"I hope you don't make the same mistake Serenity." Destruction said as he began to stroke my hair, make white strains fall in front of my face. He leaned in again for another kiss, when trees behind us suddenly came crashing down revealing a dark blue dragon with golden horns and spikes. He looked fierce and, on a mission, to kill.

"Father..." The whispered relief escaped my lips, and a small smile came across my face.

"Life. I had a feeling you would show up." Destruction said standing up facing my father with a scowl on his face. My father shifted back into his human form and looked in my direction.

"Serenity are you alright?" He asked completely ignoring Destruction in front of him.

"I'm alright but mother is..." More tears streamed down my face as I lowered my eyes to look at my mother who is resting in my lap. My father moved to kneel next to me, he looked down at his love.

"Destiny... My love." My father did not shed a tear, but his face has a look of sorrow on it. He stood up after taking a silent moment and face the other man. "Did you do this Destruction?" He asked the question, but I could tell he already knew the answer.

"Well... Things happened." Destruction's eyes drifted in my direction but his eye lingered on my mother who was laying dead on my lap.

"Serenity I want you to head back to the burrow and wait for me there." My father did not look at me, but I knew his face was serious. So, I kissed my mother and whispered a silent goodbye.

Then I stood up and started running in the direction of our burrow. It does not take long for me reach the cave that we called home. There were two makeshift beds, a fire pit in the middle. I walked inside wiping off the dried tears on my face. A CRASH rung out and then another and another. It sounded like thunder, but I knew it was not. It was father and Destruction fighting, they had created this world so many years ago and now they could destroy it. That thought made me sad, the three of them worked so hard to make a place were all beings be and small could live in peace. Together they were the three points of creation.

After what felt like an eternity, my father came flying into the cave his blue scale shined like the stars I was gazing at not too long ago. He shifted back into a man; his blackish blue hair framed his face. He was covered in injuries and was bleeding badly. I moved to help hold him up right.

"Are you alright?" I asked while I put his arms around my shoulders and hosted him upright.

"I'll be fine. I just need rest." His smile was obviously forced but I smile back all the same. "But my sweet Serenity you need to leave and hide somewhere." He looked at me his golden eyes that matched mine perfectly told me that I was in danger.

"But why?" I could not help but ask the question.

"Because he wants you now and I don't have the strength to protect you." My father pushes me away falling onto the bed he shared with mother.

"Father...I can't leave you like this." I said falling to my knee next to him. I could feel tears prick at the corner of my eyes threating to fall once more.

"I'll be fine once I know your safe. This isn't goodbye forever just until I can assure your safety." My father does not cry ever, but I see one tear fall.

"Alright father I'll leave but promise me that I get to see you again." I said wiping away my tears that were falling freely now.

"Goodbye my sweet daughter. I promise this is not goodbye forever." My father reached up and combed my hair. I smile at him and I believe what he told me.

"Goodbye father. Until we meet again." I replied while I stood up. I walked towards the entrance of our burrow. Once there I turn to look at my father again and smiled. In one night, I had lost everything. Then I started out into the night, I began to run.
