The ending. This was the worst series ending I have ever seen. It seemed as though everyone leaving the theater was thinking the same thing: why kill Ben Solo?

"What did you think about the movie sweetie?"

"If I were in the sequels, Kylo would have never died."

The car ride was full of bickering about how each of us thought the movie should've gone. My father saying Palpatine should have won, my brother completely disagreeing. As their voices continued I couldn't stop thinking about a line that I couldn't quite place: "Do not confine to a single point of view; search for the unseen." I could scoff at this. Everything is seen from one view only - your own. This honestly sounds like something my mother would tell me, begging me to think outside of my head for once. This habit is something she's always seen getting me into trouble. She tells me to use my feelings although I have absolutely no idea what she means by that. Every time I ask her to explain, she goes on about how one day I'll know what she's talking about. One day. Seems far out if you ask me.

"Well, what about you? What do you think?"

I turned my head to see all eyes on me.

"I think Kylo's arrogance was his downfall. Thinking he could turn Rey to the dark side was just utter stupidity. Not to mention she should not have been able to do all the things she was doing without proper training."

They all laughed.

"No stupid, what do you want for dinner?"

--------

I scooted my chair out while thanking my mom for dinner. She always had a knack for cooking, something I never could do. I quickly made my way to the kitchen sink to put my dishes away, trying to help her as much as possible. I admired how hard she worked and how much she sacrificed for our family. I hoped that this type of selflessness would come as naturally to me one day. My father comes up behind us as we continue to work.

"Dinner was wonderful, darling," he spoke as he looked at my mother lovingly.

He used the same comforting smile that he always gave me. Beaming. Something I always appreciated. I appreciated all of my family, really. With no truly close friends in my life, family has always provided me with a sense of wholeness.

As I reached down for a new glass to wash, the unusual began to happen. Everything began to shake. However, this is not the kind of shaking that comes from an earthquake. No, this is something I've seen before. I swiftly walk towards the front door as my mother grabs my arm. She frantically pulls me towards the closet, pushing me inside.

"W-what's happening?" I say as I continue to resist her harsh movements.

She quickly slams the door and I hear the click of the lock. I am stuck twisting the doorknob as I scream for her to let me out. I feel for the string hanging from the ceiling. Once I locate it, I am able to turn on some light and desperately try to seek a way out. As I look around for a key, I hear the muffled screams of my neighbors. I have to do something. I continue to look, but I know I'm running out of time.

I glance at the door, "this is going to hurt."

I step back as far as I can and brace myself, hurling my shoulder into the door with as much force as I can muster. My body comes into contact with the hard wood, the door barely budges. I will have to use more power if I want to get out of here. I rear back again, tensing up.

"Let's give this another go."

I ram myself into the door once again, but this time I feel the door give way. I stand for a moment catching my bearing, looking around for the rest of my family. I do not spot them, so I follow the sound of commotion. Suddenly it hits me, the lights, the sounds... these aren't sounds from Earth. I squint, peering through the darkness, landing on a ship.

"What the hell?"

There I see them, my family, on their knees held with blasters to their faces.

"Now I'm going to ask you one more time. Where is she?" a man with ginger hair says ruthlessly.

"As I told you before I have no idea what you're talking about," my mother insists.

"So be it. Blast them," the man said apathetically as he turned his back to them.

It was all happening so fast. I barely registered my movements as I began to sprint towards them. I reach out my hand, screaming, just as the blasters begin to fire. I close my eyes, feeling the tears begin to form. I awaited the screams of pain, but instead, I heard none. I opened my eyes to see all the lasers standing still, and all eyes on me.

"Let them go.... Alert Commander Ren, we found her."
