The duo walked into the arcade slowly. They were both admiring the visuals in front of them.
The arcade was lit in different neon colors flashing and pulsing. The games were also fitted with the same neon. The different lights had both Kaminari and Jiro fully mesmerized.
"In here is so cool!" Kaminari exclaimed. "Don't you think so, Jiro?"
"I have to admit, it's really cool." She smiled. "I didn't expect this." Her smile grew as she saw the Musical Hero Pro-Edition section. It was so captivating that her feet began subconsciously moving towards it. The purple neon lights around the area didn't help her either. "Musical Hero! Let's go there!"
"Okay, we can do that." He smiled at her gawking. "Fun fact, the Pro-Edition isn't even released yet! It's going to be fully accessible to the public from next week so you could say you are having early access."
"Cool...cool....less talking, more doing!"
He was shocked by her enthusiasm. He never saw Jiro so excited for anything and it made him feel happy about it. He wasn't expecting her to enjoy the hang out so much. There was something about the way she smiled that got him riled up knowing she only thought of him as a stupid idiot. Even though it was irritating at times, Kaminari still wanted her to smile as much as possible. "Come on, let's get playing!" He escorted her over to the game system and they both registered to go up against each other.
"Hey, Kaminari?" She called as she cycled through the heroes. "Just how many of these Musical Hero games are there?"
"There are three preceding this one. Musical Hero, Musical Hero 2 - Duet Dose and Music Hero 3 - Soundscapes to Heroics!" He selected his hero and waited on her.
"So many." She smiled as she finally landed on a Hero she could get behind.
"Step right up and witness The Hero Musica Showdown. Ms. Joke VERSUS Present Mic!" The game announcer exclaimed. The voice of the announcer sounded just like their English teacher, Present Mic.
"You chose Ms. Joke?" Kaminari laughed. "That's interesting."
"Does it matter who I choose?" She cocked her head to a side. The purple hue from the neon showered her face. "And if you think about her quirk, if she could get you laughing, she got you where she wants you."
"That makes sense!" He smiled. He thought about just how cute she was but instantly shook it off. "I guess you know why I chose Present Mic."
"For starters, he's really loud." She frowned. "I got to have a taste of that first hand during my exam, remember? I still find it scary to know what his sound-waves could do to me."
"Oh yeah." He frowned thinking about how stupid he was to choose Mic. He could have chosen their homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa/Eraserhead, and it wouldn't have been bad. "Well, the thing is, once you play the song right following the indications on the screen your quirk bar starts to fill, and then you could use a quirk move to gain extra points while affecting your opponent."
"Good luck, then." She smiled.
"You too."
The battle began and Jiro gained the lead. She had an advantage over him with her being musically inclined. Even so, this was her first time playing the game so she wasn't going to hold back.
"You're really good at this." He complimented. "Extremely good. I guess it helps when you are a musician."
As they battled each other, Kaminari used Present Mic quirk ability scream to stop Jiro from earning points for 15 seconds. It was one of those moves that could be a game-changer.
"Cheap trick!" Jiro groaned. "I'll still win in the end though!" After her 15 seconds were up, she picked back up trying to retake the lead that Kaminari stole. She wore a determined smile on her face as she played each note flawlessly. "Have a taste of this!" She activated Joke's quirk ability Outburst which prevented Kaminari from earning points for 20 seconds.
"Ms. Joke's ability is longer than Present Mic's?" He was shocked. "Impossible!"
Before the 20 seconds were up, Jiro won the game and smiled. "Looks like you lose! Let's play again."
They played for a couple of hours with different characters however the game was one-sided. Their total score was 18:2. One could call that ratio a domination.
Jiro smiled proudly as he guided her to a booth so they could grab a bite to eat before heading back to U.A. "Thanks for bringing me here. It was fun."
"It was only fun because you won 18 times!" He frowned and folded his arms. "I only won those times because Mr. Aizawa's quirk canceled your quirk ability those two times."
"Well, now you have a reason to get better at the game." She teased, placing her order onto the electronic tablet.
"Go on, laugh it up." He smiled as he ordered as well.
After their food arrived, Kaminari looked at her once more; captivated by how cute she looked. "Jiro? When we become Pro-Heroes you think you will make albums and other songs that you could publish for the public?"
"Public? Songs?"
"You're already a rock star at U.A, it's the same concept." He replied. "You're an amazing musician and your voice is angelic. That music could put smiles on the faces of the people."
"Thanks, Kaminari," Jiro responded. She was feeling bubbly inside. As much as she tried to ignore what she was feeling, it seemed harder every second. "I'll think about it then."
"You don't have to worry about support either! I'll be your biggest fan."
"That I don't doubt." She smiled softly as he declared his position. That bubbly feeling grew more and it became almost unbearable. She wanted to get away so she could explode without embarrassing herself. That's when the thought of him not being in her life flashed her mind. She couldn't imagine it because he was always so supportive of her.
Her thoughts were interrupted when a giant shadow was cast over them. "Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro; you two are coming with me!" The giant figure knocked both of them out quickly and placed them on his shoulder.
