Twenty three

At 7 pm, mom was in the operating room. Unconscious, with breathing tubes. I was to wait outside on the cold metal seats. They said that 1 hour was the shortest time they would finish but it seems be a lot harder because the lump was way deep in her stomach and it might take some time.

*ring ring*

"Felix, what's up?" I answer the call.

"I should be asking that. Have you eaten? How's your mom?"

"I did. The operation just got started. I might come home really late."

"Do you want me to keep you company?"

"No, its fine. I don't feel lonely."

"Your voice tells otherwise. I'll get to you as soon as I finish work."

"Felix, its fine. You don't need to. I want to be here alone with mom. Besides you still need to get up early tomorrow, you have a video shooting." he sighs through the phone.

"Alright, but call me anytime when you want to talk. I'll listen to you." I smile at how sweet he is and thoughtful.

"I will. Don't stay up late with video games."

"I won't. I'll call you later."

"Yup. Bye." I hang up and watch as the doctors start to do their work.

I waited for hours. Feeling drowsy I had my head down almost falling asleep.
They were still not done. Their gloves were bloody.

I found out that the medicines that she was taking were for the lump so that it doesn't grow and swell. She was experiencing abdominal pain and headaches. I can't imagine how much pain she'd gone through.

"Miss YN" I look up and it was mom's doctor still in his operating costume. I stood up infront of him.

"Sir? How is she?"

"The operations not done yet but we discovered that... It wasn't just one lump. There are two more and it will take more time, she's in need of blood. Do you happen to be the same blood type as her?"

"Yes sir type O."

"Great! I'll let the nurses take care of you." he leads me to the other room.

More than one? That's severe. Mom was keeping it from me for a long time. Why?

"This might hurt a little." the nurse gently warns me and puts the needle in. I see as my blood get sucked out in the tube.

Mom...please get well.

*ring ring* I pull out my phone that was in my pocket.

"Felix why are you still up?"

"I couldn't sleep. I felt bothered by the thought you alone there. What's happening there now?"

"I'm...donating blood to my mom. They just found out that there were more lumps and needed blood. Good thing I was here and we have the same blood type."

"Will you be okay?"

"I'll be fine. It's not that much anyway. Felix, I think I need to stay here. I feel like I can't leave my mom alone. What if something comes up and I'm not here?"

"Be careful there and try to get some sleep. You can always call, okay?"

"I miss you..."

"I miss you to YN." I hang up. The nurses said that it was done. I felt so much weaker and tired. Not that I cared, as long as its for Mom I'd do anything.
