"thank you for coming to help me out, i really didn't want to be a burden but i didn't know who else to ask." tansy got into her cousin alessa's car, with the girls meeting in leicester.
"not a worry, are you sure you'll be alright?" the nail technician questioned, as she followed the directions on the satnav. "you know seeing ben after how things ended?"
"i guess i'll just have to be." tansy didn't have a care in the world. "if i have my days correct then he should be at training anyway and addie will be at work."
"that's no so bad then." the younger of the two girls nodded. "you can stay a few nights with me and mason before you have to go back to edinburgh, if you'd like."
"if you're sure, i don't want to be a pain." the blonde reluctantly took her cousins offer. "it'll be nice to unwind for a bit and i'll finally get to meet lover boy!" the blonde chuckled.
"oh shush t." alessa's cheeks flushed red at the thought of mason, being in that honeymoon phase of their relationship. "you know you're more than welcome to stay at ours anytime."
"thank you again, it really does mean the world al." she smiled, with the two girls continuing their journey.
"it'll just be like our sleepovers when we were little. maybe a little less of the pillow fights and boy talk." alessa chuckled, reminiscing over old times.
"i agree there." tansy laughed back. "when our only worries were food we were going to buy from the corner shop that night."
"when everything was care free." the girl driving nodded in agreement. "take me back to those days."
"oh, me too." the blonde gulped, with the house she once shared with ben was now in sight. "that's the house there." as the car pulled up outside.
"do you need me to come in or will i just wait outside?" alessa questioned, looking from her cousin to the house.
"just wait here, i won't be too long." she weakly smiled as she pulled the keys out of her handbag, before going up to the house.
entering the house for which would be her last brought back memories for the student, both good and bad. after looking at many houses together in leicester, the couple were ready to give up until they finally found their perfect fit and potentially their forever home. this was where all those years ago she taught him how to use a kettle properly and it was only
last week where she stormed out after the argument.after packing up all her belongings, tansy thought there was only one thing left to do which was to leave one last note which was exactly what she did.
dear ben
just a wee note to say you in fact haven't been burgled, it was me grabbing the last of my belongings. the sooner i take them the better, right?
this is my last free weekend for a while before i get out on placement so it's safe to say we'll never run into each other again. this is probably for the better.
i'm sorry things worked out this way and you'll always leave me wondering why i wasn't good enough or where i ever went wrong. you were good to me for the most part so thank you for showing me what that felt like. i'll never forget that.
i hope you find the happiness you truly deserve, even if that means if that's not with me. i wish you all the best wherever that football career takes you next, i'm sure you'll smash it.
l̶o̶t̶s̶ o̶f̶ l̶o̶v̶e̶,
from, tansy.ps the keys will be through the letter box.
after finishing up the last of her note, tansy was disturbed by a key turning in the door. meaning it could only be one other person, ben chilwell. the girl didn't have much else to do rather than face her fear of coming face to face with her ex boyfriend once more.
hearing ben's footsteps inside, tansy completely froze as if she was a statue.
"what are you doing here?" ben finally plucked up to courage to ask, standing in the doorway of the living room.
"i thought you were at training, that's why i've come to take my stuff and take it up to edinburgh with me." tansy turned around, after fearing ben's presence.
"brendan let us out an hour earlier than usual." he explained, twiddling his thumbs at the same time. "i'm surprised you remembered when i had training."
"the little things like that you just don't forget as easily." the blonde weakly smiled at him. "sometimes impossible to forget."
"unfortunately, i agree." he sighed at the thought of it. "do you fancy a last cuppa here before you go?"
"no thank you." tansy said politely. "i think it's a good idea if i don't hang around much longer. i also don't want to leave alessa waiting."
"yeah, sorry." ben bit his lip to stop him rambling on to find another excuse to make his first love say.
"i'll leave you to it." she said, gathering the last of her belongings as she got ready to leave the house for the very last time. "send everyone my love."
"tansy." ben let it slip as he followed her to the front door. "i'm sorry for everything."
"and i'm sorry that i wasn't good enough for you. goodbye ben." she had the last words, leaving ben in a world of his own.
watching her walk down the path and away in alessa's car, ben soon returned to the living room and took a seat on the sofa. after a while, something which looked like a piece of paper caught his eye which the footballer got up to read.
the defender skimmed through the words before realising the familiar neat and joined up writing he had first saw on that biology assignment in high school. taking a minute to read through this and realising this was the end, ben completely broke down.
