There was a short silence before both boys took off running as fast as they could down the road. Kurt was mostly pulling a weak Blaine along.
The taller boy could visibly see Blaine tiring out, so he scanned the area for a place to hide. He could hear the car behind him. A few moments later, they were crouched in an alleyway about a block away.
"Blaine?" Kurt whispered.
When he found no reply, he checked his boyfriend to find a completely torn being. His hands were bleeding for some unexplained reason, he was just barely breathing, and struggling to hold back tears.
Honestly, Kurt wanted to kill those bullies. Each and every one of them. Still, he had more important matters to tend to. Once he was sure they were alone, Kurt led Blaine back to the Hummel's residence.
Of course, they had to stop a few times so Blaine could choke out an excuse of breathing. As soon as they got there, Blaine collapsed on Kurt's bed.
His hands still hurt, as well as his head which had been enveloped into a huge headache. The next time he opened his eyes, Kurt was wrapping bandages around his hands.
Did I fall...?
Blaine couldn't seem to remember much of what had happened. He just got out of one crisis just to be met by another. His eyes closed again, and when he opened them, Kurt was right next to him.
Blaine immediately felt better at that realization. Kurt still had his worries about what the future may hold, but he knew Azimio wasn't joking anymore.
*******
This time, Kurt was the first to awaken. He quietly moved out of Blaine's arms so he could go downstairs to Burt.
"You guys came back late."
"He just needed a place to stay!"
"Why did he need a place to stay?"
Kurt considered for a moment explaining everything. His better judgment quickly threw that idea out the window. The silence dragged on as Kurt thought of an excuse.
"He fell..."
"He fell." Burt repeated.
"Y-yeah... he fell but it was really late so he called me and I brought him here. He's okay he was just too tired to go back home after I helped him... fix his cuts a-and stuff..."
Burt gave Kurt a strange look. He knew Kurt was lying, but Kurt wouldn't lie if there wasn't a good reason. He decided he'd trust his son and leave it at that. Burt left Kurt after that and headed for the kitchen.
"We're gonna head to school early, dad." Kurt said before dashing up the stairs.
Blaine was just beginning to wake up.
"Does your dad know I'm here??" He blurted out.
"Yes..."
When he saw Blaine's eyes grow wide, he quickly explained their predicament and the terrible excuse he gave. It was believable with Blaine's scars.
"W-why are we going to school early...?"
"I have Glee club... and I don't wanna leave you alone."
Glee club. To think that Glee club still clouded a part of Kurt's mind. It was how they met up again. Kurt brought Blaine to his first class before catching up with Rachel and Mercedes. Of course, the gelled boy didn't particularly like being alone, but he wasn't sure what else anyone could do to him. It couldn't be any worse than what his father had put him through... right?
A few hours went by just fine, slightly awkward because he didn't really know anyone else in McKinley. He could see Karovsky eyeing him over, which worried him. That is, until he came over and started talking.
"You're Kurt's boyfriend."
It wasn't a question. Blaine was trying to seem confident, but that proved unsuccessful when his voice shook. He had no idea who this kid was. Kurt had never mentioned him.
"Who are you?"
"Kurt hasn't mentioned me? Does Karovsky ring a bell?"
How the hell does he know Kurt!? Blaine thought.
Blaine didn't know what was going on. Being himself, he was thinking of the worst possibilities. Some crazy homophobic bully, an ex boyfriend, a third cousin he didn't know he had.
"I-I don't know who you are... Karovsky."
"Well, I'm a friend of Kurt's." he paused. "ish... We have a complicated history which he'll probably explain to you at some point. The thing is, I have a friend who would like to get to know you. His name is Azimio. Do you know him?"
Blaine shook his head no.
"Well, you guys should meet. What better time then now?"
They were in a free period. Blaine didn't like the way Karovsky made him feel. At the same time, he was afraid of what might happen if he didn't obey. He decided to follow Kurt's 'friend' over to Azimio who smiled acordingly.

"Who's Karovsky?"
Kurt stopped cold. They were walking home from school after Azimio and Blaine's little talk.
"W-what?"
"Your friend. He wanted me to meet someone named Azimio. Were all gonna get coffee this Friday. It was my job to let you know. They seem nice."
Kurt couldn't believe what he was hearing. Something was very wrong. They had Blaine fooled. He just couldn't figure out why. Karovsky had warned him and for good reason.
"Karovsky isn't a friend..."
"What do you mean? He sort of watched me before talking to me but that just means he's a little shy. So are we!"
Kurt felt sick.
"Okay... Coffee but we shouldn't hang out with them after."
Blaine didn't understand Kurt's point of view. What was wrong with him.
