Living with my girlfriend should technically be the best thing that has ever happened to me--and most of the time it really is the best thing. Nothing is better than getting to spend all the time in the world with the person most important to me.
Except, Feyre isn't a morning person.
Which wouldn't normally be an issue. In fact, if I had a choice, I would much rather sleep in and spend as much time in bed with her as possible. Weekends are particularly my favorite when we have nowhere we need to be. Unfortunately, weekends are the only time we get to sleep in. Staying in late just simply isn't an option as college students--who both happen to have eight a.m. classes.
Some mornings are easier than others. A few kisses on her nose and cheeks with the promise of her morning tea, usually guarantees that she gets up without too much protest. After all, she can't resist my kisses. Not for one second. However, there are some mornings where nothing I do works. And when Feyre decides that she doesn't want to get up, it takes a miracle for her to move from the comfort of the blankets.
Today was one of those mornings, and we were both cutting it extremely close to being late.
"Feyre Darling, I've let you sleep as long as possible," I say gently, rubbing soft circles on her shoulders. "If you don't get up now, we'll both be extremely late."
Feyre doesn't respond, not that I expect her to, but she does pull the covers up higher on her body. At least she's somewhat awake. A quick glance at the clock tells me it's seven thirty; if she didn't get up soon we weren't going to make it to class on time, if at all.
"Feyre, please. You really need to get up," I kiss her cheek, lingering there for a few seconds. "I have your tea ready for you, but if you don't start moving we won't make it to class on time. Which means no kisses or tea," I brush back a few strands of hair that cover her face.
Noncoherent grumbling is the only response I get before she turns away from me and tucks tighter into the covers. I sigh before moving to pull the covers off her body.
I give the covers a quick tug and they fall away from Feyre's body, leaving her curled up in only my t-shirt. "Sorry, Darling. We really are going to be late. You have to get up."
She rolls over, opening her eyes only to glare at me--the kind of glare that promises death--before grabbing the pillow and throwing it over her head. I huff, irritation building inside me. I grab the pillow away from her and chuck it to the other side of the room, far away from her grabby fingers.
"Leave me alone, Rhys," Feyre grumbles, still keeping her eyes firmly shut.
"No," I shoot back, tugging on her arm. "Just get up. It's not that hard. You're being ridiculous and we're both going to be late because you refuse to get out of bed."
Feyre opens her eyes once more to glare at me again, "No, I'm hibernating. I'm not getting up." She tugs her arm from my grip and rolls into a tighter ball.
I throw my hands up in frustration, "You can't be serious. It's not that cold out! And you're not even an animal."
"I can be what I want to be!" Feyre says, raising her voice slightly. Her eyes are open fully now, glaring at me for daring to wake up her.
"Just get out of bed, Feyre," I say, knowing that there was no chance that we were going to make it to class on time.
"No," she states again, crossing her arms across her chest. The fabric of my t-shirt pulls up revealing the bare skin of her thighs, and despite the goosebumps on her skin she doesn't make any moves to grab at the comforter.
I sigh once more before getting a brilliant idea, "Ugh... fine. That's it." I bend down and loop my arms underneath her legs and around the backs of her shoulders before lifting her up into my arms. Feyre immediately grips onto my shoulders to avoid falling as I carry her through the open bedroom door.
"Put me down, you prick!" Feyre exclaims, gently slapping my shoulder. Her cheeks having turned a glorious red color that I revel in. The color also indicates that she isn't entirely opposed to my current action.
"No," I reply simply while making my way towards the kitchen.
"Rhys, if you don't put me down right now I'll..." she cuts off as I plop her down into a kitchen chair.
I turn and grab her tea from the counter before setting it down in front of her, "Drink that while I go grab you some leggings to put on. You don't have time for much else."
She grumbles, but picks up the mug nevertheless. Once I'm sure she won't fall asleep at the table, I move back down the hall to the bedroom to grab her leggings. Feyre's professors might not be exactly thrilled if she showed up in only my t-shirt. Leggings in hand and a scrunchie on my wrist, I walk back to the kitchen hoping that Feyre hasn't fallen back asleep.
Thankfully, the cup of tea is mostly gone and she seems to be more alert. At least her head is up and her eyes are open.
I crouch down in front of her and gesture for her to give me her legs. She rolls her eyes, but moves to the edge of the chair to assist me in pulling on her leggings. Once her leggings are on, I move behind her to pull up her hair into a messy bun. I brush through the strands of her hair with my fingers, quickly pulling it together at the back of her head before securing it with the scrunchie. I assess the messy bun, deeming it suitable enough, and move back around to face Feyre.
She is gazing at me with a soft smile on her face, all previous glares gone, "Thank you."
I nod, "Of course, Darling." I pause, stretching out my hand for her to take. "But we're seriously going to be late now. Not even just fashionably late, but extremely late."
She laughs, but also looks slightly guilty as she takes my hand, "Then I guess we better go and not waste anymore time."
I smile softly at her, planting a quick kiss on her lips before moving towards the door. Despite the fact that I knew we were going to be late, and the fact that I had to literally drag Feyre out of bed, I knew I still wouldn't change anything about my life with her for the world.
