When Emily was 24, she became the youngest ever Captain. A couple years later she becomes the youngest Major in the army at 26.

6 Years later
3 months after Emily turned 32, she went on a mission in Afghanistan with her team. While Emily and her team where doing a raid an explosion went off next to them, causing them all to go flying backwards. All of Emily's team but her had fallen to the ground unconscious, in that moment all Emily could hear were guns and more explosions going off as she was shooting at the enemy's just as an grenade was being thrown Emily tuck down the last of the enemy's before the grenade cause her to go flying backwards to the ground, where she past out due to all the pain she was in.
Emily woked up in a white room with bright lights on, she looked around her to find out she was in the hospital. Just then a doctor came in to see that she was awake. He smiled at her.
DOCTOR HILL: Hello Miss Goodman my name is Doctor Hill, you at the royal hospital.
EMILY: Hello Doctor (quietly) can I have some water please?
DOCTOR HILL: Sure (give it to her and puts down when she's finished)
EMILY: Thank you. Can you tell me how bad it is please?
DOCTOR HILL: Ok, so from the Grande explosion you lost your left leg because it was almost hanging off and we couldn't save it, you've got 2 broken ribs, 3 bruised ribs, a cut to you head to had stiches done, and then you have little cuts and bruises.
EMILY: (shocked) my career is over now what. (close to tries)
DOCTOR HILL: Well maybe you can have a fresh start to do something new that you also love.
EMILY: Maybe but how I only have one leg and I cannot swim with one leg.
DOCTOR HILL: Yes, you can still swim. I have a friend who can help you get a Prosthetic leg that can also be used in the water.
EMILY: Really, you'll help me. (smiling)
DOCTOR HILL: Of course, I will You've risked your life for everyone, so it's the least I can do for you.
EMILY: Thank you so much, I can't wait for it now.
DOCTOR HILL: Well he will come by tomorrow to discuss everything with you, but you won't be able to walk or swim till your ribs are healed okay. You'll be in a wheelchair for 2 months and when you come back well talk about it then okay?
EMILY: Okay that's fine, so how long till I can go home?
DOCTOR HILL: You can go home in a couple of days because we just need to keep an eye on you okay?
EMILY: Okay, thank you for everything. (smiling)
DOCTOR HILL: Your welcome. (smiling back before leaving the room).
