False confidence

Chapter 7

A/N sorry this one was so short compared to the others. I am currently making the next chapter so it will be posted as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for taking time out off their day to read this. This may not make sense. Sorry.

'Huh?'

He looked around the room, searching for the reasoning for the loud bang he heard earlier. As he looked around, he noticed that Tsukishima had woken up too.

"shut up, 160. Im not gonna stay awake because of you again"

Tsukishima grumbled as he went back to dream land. What did he mean by 'again'? Hinata pushed the thoughts out of his head and went back to finding the sound producer.

His eyes adjusted to the darkness and he finally saw something move. Hinata caught a glimpse of the shadow shuffle to the corner. When slowly turned his head to where the stranger was, he heard a little 'Eep!' that was barely louder than mouse squeaks.

"k-kinoshita-san?"

Hinata said his name in a whisper, not wanting to wake the others up. Hinata made his way to the shaking second year.

Though they didn't talk much, hinata always noticed how supportive, funny, and caring Kinoshita was. He never would have imagined like would have nightmares.

"H-hinata... you're back late"

Kinoshita wanted to change the subject. He was so embarrassed, but Hinata wouldn't let his teammate suffer in silence.

"do..."

Hinata was contemplating whether or not to say his next words, but because of his drosyness from sleep deprivation, Hinata just went with his gut.

"do you want me to sing you a lullaby? Whenever my little sis has nightmares I would sing to her"

The pinch server's eyes widened a bit. He looked up to see hinata avoiding eye contact and rubbing the back of his neck. He had a nervous smile on his face that made the second year internally laugh a bit. It was obvious that this question was a bit weird to ask, especially to someone you rarely talk to.

"it's okay if-"

"that would be nice. Thanks"

The words brought a smile to hinata's face.

Kinoshita still hadn't stopped shaking though. Hinata had realized it from the start, but thought that it would only get more awkward if brought up. The freshmen offered his senior his hand, the latter nodded as a thanks and then took it.

As they carefully moved through the crowd of sleeping men to reach Kinoshita's bed, the glow of Moonlight entered between the cracks of the blind. Kinoshita looked down to his guide, only to be met with a beautiful sight. The moonlight that leaked into the room illuminated Hinata's face perfectly. His eyes reflected the bright shine of the moon, making them look glass like. The ginger hair that floated in front of the observer looked more tempting to pat, maybe it was because of the calm aura around him. Hinata's cheeks were a soft pink, just like his lips. It was as though time had paused and Kinoshita was staring at an image. Kinoshita couldn't help be put in a trance from the sight of a angel.

Before Kinoshita had realized it, he was already lying down in bed. Hinata didn't let go of his hand though. He would always hold his sisters hand when he sings to her, so he didn't think twice about it.

Hinata closed his eyes, while Kinoshita just watched the beauty quietly hum. The humming slowly, but steadily became singing. The song he chose was "you are my sunshine". His sister would usually sing along with him, but now he didn't have anyone to sing with.

The words that left Hinata's mouth mesmerized Kinoshita once again. It was so soothing to listen to. He had closed his eyes to enjoy the sweet lullaby, only to fall asleep seconds later. Hinata saw that Kinoshita was asleep, but quietly finished the song. He always finished the song, in case the receiver was still awake, anticipating the end so they can finally go to sleep. As hinata was about to head to his bed and lay down, he noticed that Kinoshita's hand was still in his. Hinata didn't want to just leave him like that, he could have a nightmare again. He would usually sleep with his sister at times like this, but Kinoshita isn't his sister and the team, as well as Kinoshita himself, may find it weird.

Hinata looked around, trying to come up with the best solution for Kinoshita. He turned to the side and saw that Narita was sleeping next to Kinoshita. 'they are dating, so he wouldn't mind holding his hand'.

Hinata carefully let go of Kinoshita's hand and connected it to his other upper classmates hand. Before the tangerine went to his bed, he looked back to the sleeping couple. He smiled a bit. It was too cute not to smile at.

After that set of events he needed rest. He laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling once again. He knew he was in need of sleep, but he cant sleep in that room. Hinata had originally planned on just thinking that night, but sleep is a priority for tomorrows game. So Hinata got up and made his way out the room silently.

'comfort room, here I come'

A/N I was also wondering if you would like me to add Kinoshita and Narita. I don't really mind turning them into a couple all together. I just really like Narita and Kinoshita so I wanted to include them. :)
