A/N: I want to use this post to thank you all that have stuck with me and this book for over two years and have left feedback and suggestive as well as supportive comments. It always has spurred me to keep going.

Also, a reminder that requests are still open. While I still have a few requests that I have to write or transfer from paper to Word, I'm currently in a sort of writing spree so shoot!

Pain crept upon you slowly, akin to reality as you sluggishly regained consciousness. Even when you finally managed to drowsily open your eyes, the thoughts that passed through your mind were sluggish and uncoordinated, not to mention awfully distant, as if you were separated from your rational by an opaque sheet of glass.

Yet they came steadily, as rhythmic as the waves crashing against the shoreline and as reassuring as the firm beats of your heart. Each pump ended in a dull spike as pain, as your attention was drawn to your harassed muscles and aching bones.

With a low groan, you rolled over onto your stomach and tediously stemmed yourself up on your knees, your joins protesting at the strain. Rocking back so that you were sitting on your heels, you then stared dumbly at the lush green forest that stretched from the fringes of the beach to the heart land of this place and further, beyond what the human eye could see.

Birds and other creatures chirped and squeaked in the thick foliage. The commotion made your mind swim.

Somewhat dazed, you then sloppily turned around to sit on your backside and stare uncomprehendingly out at the ocean, the gunmetal waters kissing a silver-grey sky as an unbroken horizon. There was something brewing, with the sea churning and throwing up high waves and a tension in the air that made you frown in muddled confusion.

A strong gale swept inland, bring specks of sea foam and relentlessly tugging at your loose hair and spending a chill through your whole body that was only amplified by your damp garments. It also made the shreds of white cloth in your peripheral vision let out an audible snap as they fluttered in the wind.

Abruptly, you spun your head to inspect your company, sincerely hoping that it wasn't a wild beast with the intent on mauling you. It wasn't, it was just a boy that barely pasted for a man...

"...but is a beast in his own right", a fraction of your mind whispered, the part that acted on instinct and caused your hair to stand on end and your muscles to tense more than the cold could ever achieve. There was an electric prickle under your skin, the knee-jerk response to an impending danger and it made your heart begin to beat faster.

Yet how could a mere brattish boy, with his frown of childish anger and theatrical posture pose a threat to you? With his lean stature he wasn't exactly intimidating, and he held a complete disinterest for you, hence why he was staring out into the distance with a grim glint in his eyes.

Then why did he seem so awfully familiar and why did he evoke such a negative reaction from you? Then, he noticed you gawking at him and swiftly rotated on his heel to study you.

"So, you're finally awake. Took you far too long!", he spat, as if he were just desperately clinging to the reigns of his anger.

Something about his tone and undignified facial expression made two things in you click together, like a mnemonic mechanism that was solely there to unleash unspeakable horror upon you, and whereas your thought process had been too slow before, it was now too fast. Questions and realisations were tossed around and overwhelmed you like high tide.

You found yourself catastrophizing, because you had made the mistake of categorizing him as harmless once and it had been the biggest mistake of your life.
